don't be afraid to bathe the cat. she won't like it much but its easier than you think, you just need someone to help you. get you're shampoo and towel and plastic cup all gathered first. then get the cat and take off her collar. I'd use the bathroom sink because you can close the door and if she gets away there isn't gonna be a wet cat running a muck.
now have you're helper hold the cat by the scruff, behind the neck, like the momma cats do. the cat will sort of go limp, it is instinct to do that to make it easy for the momma to carry them. so you simply keep ahold of the scruff the entire bath.
wash her as quick as you can to keep her anger to a minimum. if one person holds and one person washes it is easy. use that plastic cup for rinsing.
i would use a cat shampoo or a baby shampoo and be sure to rinse her good, cats have very sensitive skin. wash her face with a damp cloth, don't get water on her face, directly. good luck.
p.s. you do not need to bathe the cat once a week, that is waaaay wrong. a cat has sensitive skin. only bathe when she needs it

Cats generally clean themselves by licking there fur and other parts, its called 'bath' they normally clean themselves before they go to sleep or just in general. sometimes cats bath each others body for (Eg:- head and back) where they cant reach so they take other cats to do to the cleaning job for them. cats can get sick and even die if you give them a bath. cats dont like water in the form of bath. some people do clean there cats by giving them a bath but the concept of giving bath to a cat has to be there since they were kittens, a lot of cats just panic and they try to run away in that process they might bite you or snap at you with there Sharp nails, because they are not familiar with the bath and that worries them. If you are really into giving your cat a bath you can use Pet shampoo for bath but make sure you dont go too close to there eye and nose as it causes iritation .
MOTHER NATURE HAS GIVEN CATS A TOOL TO CLEAN OR BATH THEMSELVES WHICH IS THERE TONGUE .

Pretty much all the pet stores have moist wipes for cats. I use them on my two cats, and they work very well. I will say the bigger the wipes, the better: they save time and do a better job. You can also use a form of talc made for cats that you brush in the hair, but it doesn't really make their hair any softer or shinier, and they won't look as clean.

You don't. Cats either clean themselves, or you give them a bath with water. A brush will help, but to really clean a cat, you'll need to use water. We do it at my house like once a month, it's not bad if you can get their back down [or else they scratch O_o]

Cats clean themselves. My vet said they need a bath at the most once a year. There are dry soaps tho and wipes you can use if you really feel the need to get it clean. Go to walmart or a petstore.

It depends on what substance is making your cat 'dirty'.
If your cat has been rolling in dirt, brush its coat. Any further cleaning the cat will do.
If your cat is greasy from food grade oils (or just has oily skin), sprinkle talcum powder or baking soda on your cat's coat, rub it in and then brush it out. When you rubbed it in, you were helping the powder to bind with the oils. When you brush it out, you are brushing out the oils at the same time.
If your cat has gotten into something that is toxic (such as motor oil or antifreeze), you will need to bathe the cat with water. When my cat got into motor oil under the car, I bathed him in skin temperature water and used Dawn dish detergent to break up the oil. He didn't like the water, but I didn't want him to lick the oil off of his fur.

let her lick herself clean if she is an outdoor cat. After that you might want to clean her with a wet towel with no soap, and then finally let her lick herself again. In this way, she will not be getting wet.

It depends on how dirty your special pet is? I wash my cat with Baby wipes, it cleans her very well and doesn't harm her skin. But, if she got into something very serious like mud or barbq sauce then you bout have to hose her down and then wipe her clean with a soft cloth.

they have special pet wipes at pet stores. i have seen them for dogs, but i would think they should be safe for cats too(check the package). i wouldn't worry too much about giving your cat a bath though, they can keep themselves clean with licking. just make sure to brush him/her a few times a week to help remove excess hair.
they also make special dry bath stuff for cats, i have never used it, but a lot of people do. it is a type of bran that you brush in the fur. it's supposed to keep a cat's fur really shiny. :-)
