Jesus directed his followers to be as perfect as 'God'.
On the other hand, as an Essene rabbi he knew about and taught reincarnation, which allows perfection of the soul. Paulism (popularly known as Christianity) doesn't.

Think about it now...Jesus was a human too. When you do not harm anyone elses world or yourself then you are perfect.Sometimes this happens though and if it happens just ask for forgiveness sincerely then you become white as snow again. Therefore keeping in a constant state of contact with our Creator and always being aware of what true wrongs are and in what places these "wrongs" should occur or not,you CAN BE perfect.
I don't see the big reason why we hide from him. He's far too understanding for us to run from a relationship with Him.You can talk to a God about anything and He never gets p-issed off.Far different from any humans opinions.
Besides, whoever really said you HAVE TO BE "perfect" anyways?

Yes, "perfect" has been blown way out of proportion.
OK, Jesus is perfect, but our chance is very slim. I think it's more of a goal, rather than likelihood. Kind of like desiring to be the best soccer player in the world would inspire you to always try your hardest, but even if you were great, you'd never know if you were actually the best.
Striving for perfection in Christ is a good thing, expecting to achieve it is prideful.

Then in essence you are saying that God is a liar? That Satan is the more powerful one? WE may not know what perfection is but if we did like Jesus did, we could live a perfect life just as He did. That is, if you believe God.

You will never be perfect, or even close to it, that is why we need a savior. The laws of God condemn us, but Jesus came to fulfill the laws that required a penalty to be paid for disobedience. So....with Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, you are found sinless and the laws no longer condemn you. Whom the Lord sets free is free indeed. Meaning free from condemnation. We want to do right, but our sinful nature is with us in our flesh. The difference with Jesus, is we WANT to do right.

We have Jesus as an example of perfection in all things. That's how we know what perfection really is. We are to become even as He is so we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father. We will not be perfect in this life, but we can become perfect in different areas of our lives. For example, you can become perfect in your knowledge and ability to do household chores like the dishes, the laundry, cleaning, etc. Or you can become perfect in your ability to work in your chosen profession. The more knowledge and skills we gain in this life, the better it will be for us in eternity.
I think people can be perfect in different skills and abilities, but no one can be the perfect person, only Jesus was the perfect person.

God didn't put a timeline on his command "Be you perfect, even as I am perfect." It will take many thousands, if not millions or billions of years for us to make ourselves experientially perfect even as God is existentially perfect. We won't attain perfection in this earthly life in the flesh. Once we graduate to the next life, we continue our path of spiritual growth until we eventually are able to answer God's command.

You are right we cannot be perfect. and no one expects us to be , we just try to follow the Standard Jesus gave us in the example of his life. and if we are Children of God we are Holy Perfect only because Jesus forgives.

You can only be perfect by emulating Christ. And you do that by following the directions in the manual. The point is trying to do what you were told to do by following the directions and asking for help.
