Did god create man or did man create god?
The age-old question still baffles me. My gut says that man created god to satisfy his need to know answers about that which cannot be known (i.e. why are we here? what is the purpose of life?)

Not much of biblical reader myself. The basic question is how everything came about without a creation. The most complex question is "who is that one in that body before it becomes lifeless?" The second law of thermodynamics simply states that energy can not be created or destroyed. What it fails to categorically state is where energy came from prior becoming an observable physical law? My opinion is, science can answer some of what once used to be God's mystical territory. It can explain away the miracles and transforms faith into practical knowledge. But science despite its leap over many centuries still can not have all the answers. For as long that's gonna be the case there will always be atheist and theist sludging out one another.

God, the Universal Spirit, the Supreme Being, EXIST because all peoples in our planet have some sort of programmed spirituality when it comes to question our existence! No one can answer the WHY ,WHO are WE? WE are beings of light in the image of the awesome force that drives all life! Imagine a aunt ,so small ,do you think it is aware of US? A bit , and to the aunt we are unexplicable! All cosmo is so; we are the proof of Gods existence! There are no others like US, made in HIs image . Ponder this.

In my opinion your thinking is correct. I am an Atheist so I do not believe in any god. But I do believe that god was made his myth survives because of the human need to find reason in life and answers to death.

You are right.
Allah was created by arab writers
Yahweh was created by Jewish writers
Jesus was created by Greek writers (at least the supernatural parts of him)
Zeus was invented by the Greeks
Krishna was invented by Indians
Native American Gods were invented by native americans
etc
etc
etc
To claim THOSE gods are man-made but MY God is real is special pleading fallacy and an insult to one's intellegence.
Their neat-o stories, that's about it. Funny myths.

You've got to be kidding! God's existence has nothing to do with whether people believe He exists or not.

i think we exist becoz he believes in us.
scientifically there is a God gene - it creates a center in the front part of our brain that makes us have faith. (i am not a freako - this is actually true!)
All the disperate peoples in the world independently came up with faith, in 1 form or another! that shows theres something out there or up there

No, He doesn't need us. Even if there were no believers on earth, He'd still be there. But He loves us too much, that's why there is the Bible and that's why Jesus came. But you are not obliged to believe this. I do, that's all.
