If no one is available to ride in the back seat with him he can cry for 45 min. strait before tiring out. We have tried every music possible, even silence. It doesn't matter how short or long the trip is he will scream everytime we are in the car.

A toy, a bottle...The fact is that some kids cry no matter what. Have you checked the seat? Is there something that might make it uncomfortable? Is it adjusted okay? How are reacting to it? If you are giving him attention from it, he may be doing it for you to give him attention and to pick him up. Sometimes it's best to let them cry it out. Eventually he will grow out of it.

Wel lI was going to tell you he might be getting car sick, but since he stops crying when someone is back there then I doubt that is what it is. My daughter used to cry all the time too, and then she would spit up some. Didn't matter if any one was back there with her or not. After a couple of months of this I wondered if she was getting car sick, and I talked to the doctor and he told me to give her half a dose of the benadryl that I would normally give her, so I gave her that before we went on our next car trip and she didn't cry a bit. She will be 9 in a couple of weeks and we still have to give her something to go on a drive although it is getting better. When she was smaller it was just driving around town and she would get sick, but now she can go about an hour and then she is done, so i know if we are going more than an hour away I get out the bonine. I am sure you didn't want to hear all that did you! Sorry!

Sometimes you don't. My last son had a phase he went through where he would just cry in the car the whole time, whether anyone was back there or not, whether he had toys or not, pacifier, whether he had already been fed or not, and we knew he wasn't wet. He just didn't like being in the freakin' car. We just had to ride with the noise. Excruciating, but what could we do?

That said, it only lasted a month or so before he stopped doing that, and it wasn't all of every ride, because he'd often fall asleep. So just hang in there, do your best to make sure he's comfortable and has what he needs, and drive as quickly but as safely as you can :)

The first time my daughter cried was when we drove her home from the hospital. And every car ride after that. When she was old enough to speak she told me she felt like throwing up. She is 7 now and still gets car sick. There is no cure. Take him in the car as little as possible. Buy the Kenny Loggins Return to Pooh Corner CD and sing along. Make sure he is getting cool air near his face. Buy a window shade. When he can see out the window it may improve. My daughter HAS to ride in the front seat.

in the back seat there are hooks on both sides of the car to hang clothes on . you can purchase a rod to cross those two points hang bright colorful objects from this rod above the child, but make sure these items will not come lose or have small objects that could pop off . also make sure the sun is blocked, also if you could slide the passenger seat all the way up so you can reach your little one.a stroke on the foot or top of the head goes along way to reassure that you are still there. good luck.

He is not in pain because you said it was only when alone in the back. Hang in there, at almost 3 months, the crying won't hurt him. Children learn early how to get what they want, give it time and he will give up. I drove from CA to FL with a 2 yr old and a 4 month old - the 4 mo old screamed the whole trip( at least I never dozed off!)

If he is crying comfort him!!!! You can make a HUGE mistake by letting him cry until he stops. This will lead to serious problems in his adulthood. He will live a unhappy life, feeling very strong need for love and safety.

He cries because he's afraid. He is 11 weeks old, it is more than justified for him to be afraid. Can you hold your hand there at the back. Or just put the chair on the front seat? Just don't let him be there and cry. Babies of that age don't give a **** about music. It is the warmth and touch of their parents that they NEED and that gives them comfort.

Try singing to your baby in the car, your voice is music to his/her ears!and a baby can pick up on your tension so try some deep breathing and relaxations techniques yourself.
Try some affirmations,in the mirror in the morning, say I am wonderful and happy and full of joy.My life is so blessed,I have a healthy family,a wonderful home, a beautiful baby,so many don't have this, so be happy.

You have to break him of his habit. I know it's hard, but you have to let him cry. He'll know that he doesn't have control of you in that way, then eventually stop. Even if you have to hear it for 45 minutes everyday. Stop sitting in the back seat with him. You're the parent, not him. He's a lot smarter then you give him credit for. The doctor told my sister in law that when her son was only 6 weeks old. If you don't stop it now, it could result in years of controlling behavior. My sister has a REALLY hard time with her 4 year old twins. They control her every move!
