Something personal, unique, and timeless. It has to be something that fits YOU two.
Here's our story:
History: Your first date ended with making brownies in your dorm kitchen.
Proposal:
Location: Kitchen, 9:30 PM, summer evening
Setting: Both of you are watching television. He all of a sudden decides that he wants brownies. You look at him in confusion but figure that he's a guy and must just be needing chocolate. You can't fault the guy for liking chocolate! At first you suggest cookies, but no. He wants brownies.
You look at the recipe, and get everything ready. In a bowl you pour 1/4 cup oil and crack 2 eggs. By the time you open the brownie box, you find a letter. It reads, "Since the first time we met, you have danced in my heart ever since."
You do a little "Awww" and then notice that he's on one knee. He takes your hand and asks you to pour out the brownie mix. At the bottom, in a clear, plastic bag is a size 6, 1/2 karat, white gold diamond engagement ring.
He wraps his arms around you, looking into your eyes as you bawl your brain out. "You know that I love you," he says. "But I want to love you forever. I want to start a family with you. I want to have a forever with you. Will you marry me?"
By the time you realize what he's just done, you can't even speak. You can only nod your head and cry. And it's still 9:45 at night, in a tiny kitchen at your boyfriend's apartment, with you in boxers and a wife beater, and he in his boxers. And life couldn't be more perfect.

I was proposed to in the most amazing way. I was taken to a small airport here in my hometown where my now fiancee told me he had to drop off some paperwork with the owner for his job. He took the paperwork in and after a few moments he came out to say that the owner was feeling generous and because it was two days until christmas he would take us up in a helicopter! As we were climbing in the pilot handed me a dozen red roses, and I finally started to realize this may have been planned. We flew all over the city looking at the Christmas lights from above. Towards, the end of the ride, he had me take my headphones off and he pulled the ring out! I would have said yes no matter what, but now we have one of the most amazing experiences that we shared together and it truly was a once in a lifetime experience!

The ideal marriage proposal would be a night out. You have dinner, at a fancy restaurant and then go for a walk on the beach. After you and him talk about the direction of your future together he suddenly stops and gets down on one knee while the moon shines nearby and the stars glow brighter than ever before. He asks "Will you marry me?" You can hear the oceans waves pushing against the sand as your heart pounds and you finally get out the word yes!

3 yr anniversary (dating)... having dinner at a special restaurant - because you usually have dinner at the local pub or at home and something special really would be SPECIAL (such as a restaurant high above the city lights at night). Somehow you landed the best table in the house. Seems like a strange coincidence.
Soft, live jazz music in the background, beautiful view of the city. Christmas lights are below, the harbor in the distance.
Small talk about the future. Enjoying the meal. Wondering how a blind date could turn into 3 years!
Then you look down and there is a gorgeous diamond ring, and he says "will you marry me?"
He proceeds to pull out little pieces of toilet paper. He wrapped the ring in toilet paper because the box was too bulky and he was out of paper towels. It makes everything perfect, and so very sweet.
Then you say "yes!" He wants to listen to music, you want to run down to your car and call everyone you know!

You are both at Volcano Nat park in Hawaii standing right next to a red-hot lava flow. The man turns to the woman and says, "dear, I know you want to get married so you can make my life a living hell for ten years at which time you will kick me out of the house and move your boyfriend in my home and give him my pajamas and golf clubs. This, by the way, is the same man you have been having sex with for six years because he is so damn 'emotional'. I will have to rent a studio apartment in the bad part of town and drive a 1989 Hyundai because I have spent all my money in divorce court but I should have known it wouldn't do any good since you are also sleeping with the judge who orders me to make alimony payments for the next twenty years. I am balding, overweight because of the high carb foods I eat, I drive a Hyundai, I will never have sex with a woman again. So, my darling, I have decided to ask for your hand in marriage and if you say yes, I will jump into this 3000 degree lava flow right here and now".
Romantic, eh?

The most ideal marriage proposal in my opinion is the element of surprise. Let's face it ladies, if we are taken to somewhere out of the ordinary we can sence that somethings up. The best is when you have no idea...

I am guessing that you are lloking for ideas....well it's not going to mean much for you to replay someone else's engagement. But I will give you my opinion....
my husband proposed to me at a college hockey game because that was our first date. He had the mascot hand me a piece of candy and then when I went to sit down the mascot touched me on my shoulder and gave me the ring. My husband then expressed how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It was something that has a lot of meaning to us. Sure he could have driven me to the beach or some romantic setting. but he was very creative and now we can tell our kids that we got engaged at the same place we had our first date. We feel that it maeks for a good story.
