Rockville has terrible traffic and it's basically a suburb with nondescript residential areas and strip malls with a few big-box stores that look like anywhere else in the country. There's a "downtown" to Rockville with a few offices and commercial stuff but nothing worth a special trip since it looks like any other town in the country except without any charm and TERRIBLE traffic. Go into DC if you can - see some of the Smithsonian museums or something. You can take the Metro (subway) from Rockville.

P.S. there's a fairly obscure REM song called "Don't Go Back to Rockville" that was written about Rockville, MD.

There's F. Scott Fitzgerald's grave. There's also Rockville Pike (Route 355) where there are a bunch of restaurants and shops along the pike (particularly good Chinese food).
