Because God's word tells us He did. John 3:16 "for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not peirish, but have everlasting life". Read on in the bible...never take just one verse and try to make a "doctrine" out of it. If you read further in the new testament, you will see that many of the Jews rejected Jesus. Therefore, the "gospel" was given then to the gentiles. There will be a time when God deals with "Israel" again...and that time will most likely be after the rapture of the church of the face of the earth.

He did tell his disciples not to go to the Gentiles the first time that he sent them out. However, his last command before he ascended into Heave was for his people to go and "make disciples of every nation".

Context is important in interpreting scripture.
...........................................

Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son...

Not just for the Israelites. What you are referring to is Jesus' Mininstry while walking the earth. He came to let them know he was the messiah that they had been watching for, all the while knowing that most would deny him, as they were looking for a strong king, not a lamb to be slaughtered for our sins.

Gentiles were "adopted" into the seed of Abraham after this rejection took place and prophecy was fullfilled.

Keep reading!! Your getting there.

Accordingly, Jesus came fulfilling the Old Testament. He started first attempting to convert the orthodox Jews. Being spurned by them, he next worked with the common folks, where he had luck. It was these that subsequently crafted the Christian faith.
Jesus died to give us spiritual salvation, whereby we can be saved spiritually by accepting him as the Messiah.

Because it's true. You Muslims are only given the little bits and pieces of the Bible. Read the whole thing and you'll understand why Jesus not only died for anyone who believed in him, but also why there have been no prophets since Jesus. Beware of false prophets!!!!!!!!

"lost sheep of Israel" appears twice in the Bible, both in Matthew, first in Chapter 10, then Chapter 15.

Matt 10:5-8 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

In easier language, he was saying, "Don't begin by traveling to some far off place to convert unbelievers. And don't try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously."

Matt 15:23-28 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

again in simpler language:
Jesus ignored her. The disciples came and complained, "Now she's bothering us. Would you please take care of her? She's driving us crazy." Jesus refused, telling them, "I have my hands full dealing with the lost sheep of Israel." Then the woman came back to Jesus, went to her knees, and begged. "Master, help me." He said, "It's not right to take bread out of children's mouths and throw it to dogs." She was quick. "You're right Master, but beggar dogs do get scraps from the masters table." Jesus gave in, "Oh woman, you faith is something else. What you want is what you get." Right then her daughter became well.

So.. anyway, it's not that he was ONLY there for the Israelites, but rather that was were they had to start.

Now take a look at John 3:16-19 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Jesus was not sent only for Israel, Jesus was sent to save all the world, to die for ALL sin so that through Him humanity could once again have a relationship with God.

He said that during his earthly ministry because salvation was offered to the Jews first, since the Messiah had been promised to them. But they did not accept Him, so before he was crucified, and after his resurrection, he instructed his disciples to go into all the WORLD and preach the gospel and that WHOSOEVER believes will be saved.

Your on the right track except He died for the "Spiritual" Israel not the national Israel.

6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

This directly relates to the story of Eden in which sin represents attachment to the world, Jesus gave his life to free us from "sin", or attachment as it actually represented. So when he died for the world, he actually died to free us from the world.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. I don't see any specifications there about which group of people (race or ethnic background) get to have eternal life.
