what should i look for?

Here are the things I look for:

Are the racks adjustable? Are there options for quick loads or just one level? Are the racks sturdy? If you have a family, you probably want the biggest interior space you can get. You also want to check on the noise level; some models are much quieter. Some features that people like for energy conservation are air dry and direct water heating.

I personally like the Bosch dishwasher. Even the least expensive one has a stainless interior and covered heating element.

Good luck! Be sure to check out your local Sears Outlet stores for products at way cheaper prices!

Mine has all kinds of adjustable racks and baskets for smaller items which I really like. It's also a little noisy which I don't like but it has a delay start so I can set it to run when I'm not in the room. Did that help you at all? Maybe I just like to talk about my dishwasher!

Giirrrl!!! I would say since I'm an appliance whore that you want a stainless steel inside so you can have sanitation heat and not rust or break the tub. You want something that has a build in garbage disposal!!! You don't want to have to prescrape. Mine you can put a whole turkey in and it comes out bones! Don't get me started on my Front Loader. I still have a chair in front of it when i do my laundry! Yes im lazy and the more lazy i get the more money I make! You will too!!!Cheers!

Good Luck with your shopping for a dishwasher.
One tip though, every time you do a wash just sping the rotary arm around to make sure there is enough clearance between plates in the lower basket.

Energy/Cleaning/Drying rating look for AAA - most efficient.
Also, do you want slimline or full size.
Trouble with slimline is, that a couple of pans almost fills them.
