Do the so called "internet eraser" programs actually erase anyting that you can't erase just by going to control pannel / internet options and erasing cookies and temporary internet files from there.

well, if its a spyware/adware remover it does.. but if it just targets your temporary files, i think its just a lazy way of cleaning them, or maybe for computer novices

Don't forget your history files! Yes, I think those Internet cleaner progs are a waste of time - use tweekui and unlock many of the functions that are hidden on your windows box. It is free and there are no bugs to deal with.

don't ever use CCleaner, and the likes, coz they also delete some essential programs components that will disable your MS Office, or Microsoft Encarta, which happened to me and some of my friends.

i have tried several of these so called unnecessary file removers, but only 2 programs haven't done any damage to my files,

yea but u can actually do it manually which is a lotta work.
