I'd like it to be as close as possible to a government issue M16A4 (lug, correct flash hider, removeable carry handle, etc). Doesn't have to be a Colt...

Who has the best price out there for a new one? Any brands to stay away from? Thanks in advance!

They are available on http://www.gunbroker.com every now and again.

The Colt AR-15 (M16A4) is around $1,000 - Rock River Arms makes one also, the price is about the same...I prefer the Colt AR-15..

As a civilian, you CAN purchase a M16A4, but 5.56 NATO isn't the best cartrige available. Youll need a NFA liscence to get one. This is due to the bayonet lug and the full automatic capabilities. Several manufactureres make variants of the weapon which are semi automatic only and do not have the bayonet lug. I reccomend shotgun news or guns america.

just go down to your local gun shop and ask the guys there about an AR-15 in the A4 configuration. go with the bushmaster, armalite, or the new smith and wesson AR. you can get the exact copies of the military models but in semi auto.
