I have started using the Commit lozenge and I am doing pretty good but I was wondering if you all could tell me terrible things about lung cancer and heart disease to remind me of why I need to keep trying to quit.

I was a heavy smoker for over forty years....I tried every means to quit, but couldn't I tried Zyban, the patch, hypnosis....NOTHING WORKED....Even as the price kept increasing, I would go without eating so I could smoke....I lost both of my parents to lung cancer and it wasn't until Peter Jennings died, that I was finally able to quit....COLD TURKEY.....I just hope my lungs are not too damaged to repair themselves....

Having to have A lung removed and having to cart an oxygen tank with you sucks pretty badly, and the scare is repulsive.Keep trying. I know how hard it is to quit as I only quit 6 weeks ago. It's still pretty hard and I have to tell myself several times a week why I'm quiting, but I definitely think the first two weeks were the worst. I'm using a prescription to help; maybe if the lozenges don't work you should talk to your doctor.

well I know 2 sad stories, the first one was my friend's mother, she used to smoke a lot and she got lung cancer, after years being treated with chemotherapy, radiation, etc she got cure but suddenly she started to loose control of her movements and she started to loose her mind and in one week she died, after the autopsy they find out that it was a parasite in her brain, it was sad because she managed to get cure from the cancer and died in just a week because she ate something with that parasite.

and the other story is still alive, is my neighbor, she used to smoke very much and one day she started to feel some serious headaches that make her feel nauseous so when she got to the doctor they discovered that she had, besides lung cancer, a tumor in her brain, she got a surgery but she hasn't recovered and she could died anytime, just because she love smoking.

This 2 women left behind 3 children (each one) that now have no mother and no father because both of them are divorced, so now think about how you will suffer if you get cancer and how your love ones are going to feel about it.

Most people don't die a quick, happy death from cigarettes. Usually you get emphysema and require an oxygen canister. You'll probably have a heart attack and your legs will swell up. After living a few years like that, you'll probably have a stroke. WIth luck, you be able to move part of the affected side of the body, but at best you'll be able to walk with a walker. But probably you'll be wheelchair bound. And you will drool and be incontinent of bowel. You'll need somebody with you 24/7 just to clean up your feces. Hopefully they feel like acutally doing it. If your family can afford it, you can pay someone to do that, or you'll just have to try and get a family member to do that for you.

Good luck!

KEEP TRYING! MY STEP DAD QUIT AFTER 50 YEARS OF SMOKING. I WOULDN'T SUGGEST THIS, BUT HE DID IT COLD TURKEY. BECAUSE OF THE YEARS AND YEARS OF SMOKING, HE PASSED AWAY SHORTLY THEREAFTER DUE TO LUNG CANCER. SO HANG IN THERE, YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU LATER!

you really need to stop smoking because you're breath is going to smell really bad and also because you're gum from were you're teeth are holding is going to turn nasty and you're going to have a really bad cough.
