Would everyone agree that, to a large extent, the world is split down the middle between two distinct cultures? WEST and EAST.
Would we agree that neither of these two cultures will rest until one has surpassed the other?
Let none of us forget our own peoples history in that rebellion is something none of us can say eluded us.
The world belongs to those who want it more.
Peoples have been taken over for thousands of years and wars been raged for longer yet most people don’t realize that its in all of our nature.
Survival of the fittest no?

I think that West vs East is a vast oversimplification. Where would you put Turkey on that scale? Japan? Africa?

I think both can live harmoniously. I'd have to say the conflict is arising because lots of people in the East would like to adopt some aspects of Western culture, but are being oppressed and killed for doing so or just thrown in jail or told they cannot... and a lot of the motivation behind those rules is religiously based. There are many cultures of the East which still have their own eastern ways and culture and religious beliefs, but partake in trade with the Western world like India, Pakistan, China (wow and China is a communist nation and COMPLETELY different from the West), Malaysia, and so forth. So... it goes to show that both can co-exist. Also, nations can mind their own business and do things completely their way... like if North Korea did not try to be aggressive to other nations... if they did things their way without threatening others, the West wouldn't be concerned and both could co-exist just fine and never engage one another.

The conflict that exists, is because certain extremists in certain countries are resisting ANY western ways and persecuting their people for adopting any western ways and attacking the western nations through acts of terrorism. If they just went about their business and left everyone alone, no one would pay them any mind.

War and violence is part of our lower nature, the desire to lord it over the material energy is the componant part of our diseased nature, which manifests in a material format.

The reason we fall from the pure Spiritual world and descend into this world, is due to this misuse of free will, it goes on between continents, nations, religions, political groups, neighbours and individuals.

The reason all these difficulties exist is due to false ego, this means that individuals falsely accept the temporary covering of the material body to be their true self, then subtely, due to mental conditioning, assign labels to identify themselves, this is all illusion, not in the sense that it is non-existent, but in the context that it is temporary.

Our real or eternal identity is we are Spiritual beings and our real home is in the Spiritual world, to revive this original consciousness, we must first shed the false identification that the material body is the objective self and be united is serving the Supreme consciousness or God.

When this is done, our collective objective becomes one and not various, dependent upon bodily identification and subtle conditioning of the mind, which produces division and from that division, the resultant hostility that you focus on in your question.

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 Verse 41

Those who are on the Spiritual path of devotional service, are resolute in purpose and their aim is one.
However the intelligence of those who are irresolute is many branched.

If it was only that easy! Today, Western religious freely admit Eastern truths, and vice versa. There is a great blurring of beliefs taking place. Best thing to do, in my opinion, get back to your pre-Christian beliefs, before the merging. It may take some digging, but the journey will be well worth the trip.

Not really we're more likely to drain out all our food sources, attack all oxygen (by killing plants) and then end up in a Nuclear holocaust fighting for food and land and oxygen. Then only the primitive tribes will survive.

If it is war why not come out and say it instead of claiming they are missions of mercy. Invasion and occupation and mass murder are not much of a help
