Losing weight AND keeping it off takes discipline. You have to commit to eating healthy all the time, not just go on a 'diet'. If you diet the weight will come back the minute you are off the 'diet'. You must also exercise regularly...this is simple....eat less and healthy, exercise!

Ok you HAVE TO cut on the junk food and sweets to maybe, once or twice per week. Exercise daily on that treadmill for at least 20 minutes because after 20 mintues of continuous exercising, you start burning off fat. Eat REAL FOOD before you exercise (like pasta with some veggies or something) and let your stomach rest for an hour...then go on that treadmill. Drink plenty of liquids during the day (water, juice, tea with no artificial flavoring or sugar), that will keep your stomach fuller so you won't be as hungry for junk food also. Keep on this for a few weeks, check the scale everyday and you'll see results.
Good luck.

Willpower is my hardest part... however, I once lost about 40 lbs by stop drinking sodas, eating Weight Watchers for meals(spent about 2 or 3 months doing this), and eating plain bread, Ritz crackers, or fruit for snacks. Due to severely depressing circumstances beyond my control, I put it back on in less than 2 weeks. The last time I lost weight (well, I didn't technically lose *any* weight, but I lost a couple inches in a month), I once again quit drinking soda, and spent an inordinate amount of time excersizing (mainly walked about 2 miles a day [spread throughout the day], rode a bike for about 30mins-1hr [late at night], and did 'bout 20 sit-ups, 15 girly-pushups, 10 manly-pushups, and 30mins of stretching [first thing in the morning]).

O.K. Not trying to be mean but if you want to lose 5lbs. that's not rocket science, in fact it's one of the easiest things you can do, I mean its 5lbs for pete's sake, you can lose that by sweating!!! But seriously you don't need any advice just CLOSE YOUR DAMN MOUTH, STOP EATING EVERYTHING!! You said it yourself you always want what your friends and family have. IT'S ALL ABOUT SELF CONTROL!!! Just think about all the chemicals and additives that are in those products, that your body wasn't meant to consume. And FYI pop and soft drinks have sooooooooooooo much extra weight in them, think of a can of pepsi as an extra roll SERIOUSLY!! If you drink just water for a month ( lot's of water) im almost sure you will be a couple pounds lighter!!!

your question would seem easy enough, but the way you ask makes me wonder why you want to loose the weight, and if you really want to keep it off for any period.
if you're just looking to crash for a special occasion - do a liquid fast for 3-4 days before (like the Hollywood diet) cut out all carbonated drinks, and take some Aquaban (OTC water pills) - drink plenty of water.
if you want to keep it off, you know you should just eat right and exercise- fresh foods, low calories, high proteins, and some movement daily (30 mins +) - it's just common sense
we all know what to do to loose weight, we just don't want to do it and ask here so someone will give us the "miracle pill" answer
either way you go - good luck!!

I just lost 80. I walk like 7 miles a day and don't eat much, lots of coffee, sunflower seeds, and vegetables. And smoke one Camel light after the other, quit for two weeks and gained so started again. Stupid I know. I am a food addict, all or nothing, it seems.

You have to burn around 3500 calories to lose one pound. It is much better not to eat the crap then to spend literally days on a treadmill to lose those 5 pounds.

I lost pounds by eating less fast food, switching to diet soda, eating yogurts (love lemon and key lime flavors), and limiting my alcohol consumption - especially beer!
