What kind of God do Muslims believe in that they think it's right to kill others and themselves. Do they really think 40 virgins will be waiting at the gates? I just don't understand how any religion condones murder and terror, please give me your views.

Chris S has a great answer. i am not trying to put down any religion i really just wanted to know what was up. i don't know any muslims so i can't ask them. Dameon you need to go back and visit with you satan, hope everyone sees what you are. i don't need to grow up, i was just trying to learn about another religion. I don't believe that everyone believes in the same God and just calls Him different. I know people who say they believe in God but it's not anything like i know as a Church of Christ Christian.

First, I am a Christian. Not a Muslim.
Next, they actually worship the same God we do. They do believe in another prophet and not the Son of God. They believe in Mohammed and believe that Jesus was just another phophet of God. The God is the same though. We both worship the same God.
Muslims do not believe in a God that believes in murder and killing people. Your talking about extremist that are actually upset at US policy within the region. They take a very distorted view of God, the Quran, and the typical beliefs of the Muslim religion.
That distorted vision is pushed on young muslim boys, easy to convince. The 40 virgin thing in one of those distortions. What 16 year boy is going to turn down 40 virgins.
Muslims are sweet, kind, God fearing people. They do not believe in terrorism, death, and killing. It is just as serious a crime for them as it is for the Christian.
Study and know the difference. The Muslim faith is a good thing. In my opinion, the wrong way. I believe in Christianity. But that distorted religion that is terrorizing the world is not the Muslim religion.

The god of the old testament, believed in by muslims, jews, and christians, condoned and encouraged all sorts of murder. Why does it surprise you? Of course, it is just one more evidence that god doesn't exist.
Anyway, it is not the Muslim religion (Islam) that is terrorizing people. It is a few individual members of that relgion, misled by fanatics. But there are fanatics in an out of every religion. Religion is there to polarize people and cause strife.

Actually, Christians and Muslims do not profess to have different gods - they both believe in one god. There are probably many reasons that the Muslim world is more "fanatical" than the rest of the world. I believe that Arab governments are corrupt and use religion to keep their respective peoples occupied with things other than their own corrupt regimes. Kind of like American politicians use god for their own purposes. The difference is that we in America for the most part have choices and not driven to more extreme forms of blowing off steam or protesting.

Some Muslim sects believe they have the only interpretation of the bible, so are the only ones who understand god and his message. No all Muslims believe this way. Eitherway, this goes to show how harmful religion can be.

I hate to tell you this, hon, but it's not just Muslims that terrorize people. The sad thing is that you all sit idly by while Christians do it and you call it the will of God. Grow up.

if your intention is really to learn, then please read this article:
http://thetruereligion.org/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=63
summary: islam does not encourage terrorism; it condones terrorism. islam does not allow the killing of innocents...(even though the media would like you to believe that).
to understand the behaviour of certain muslims, or events worldwide, read any good unbiased history books.
in addition, if you would like better quality answers, dont hesitate to go to a mosque (if there is one) or ask in an muslim internet forum (example: the link i gave you).
okay well take care

Good question! I myself and getting pretty sick of all of the bad news on my radio coming from one of two sources: 1) George Bush and his cronies and 2) Radical, suicidal, homicidal Muslims.
I need to hear the non-crazy Muslims ratchet up the rhetoric agaisnt the crazy kind. There's entirely too much toleration of it from the Muslim community if you ask me.
