I brush this cat every day. When I come home from work the pillow she sleeps on is covered with hair. I can brush her all night and she still sheds.

I brush her every day. I have her on the best food availible, she has no allergies, she has always been an inside cat (she's deaf). I work for a vet so she gets the best food and care. I've tryed stuff you put on their food to help with shedding, but she won't eat it.

Maybe your cat has a nutritional deficiency. Check the cat food bag to see if it says that the food has all the proper nutrition for a cat. If it is healthy and is still shedding a lot, I suggest getting a bottle of Outright(TM) SHED-GUARD. It is an anti-shedding spray that adds luster and shine to your pet's coat. You can use it on cats and dogs. Your local vet should know about SHED-GUARD, but if they don't, here is how you can contact the company to get a bottle:

A 12 fl oz. bottle costs about $10, but it works! I used it on my cat because she would always shed and my sister and dad are allergic to cats. It worked! Good Luck!

I have 4 cats, that ALL shed, ALL the time. Some cats will shed excessivly more than others. My longer haired cat shdes so little yet my short hairs shed like crazy!! I brush my cats 4-5 times a day, mainly because im home all day and they LOVE the brush, but they still shed. There's really not much you can do for shedding other than clean up after it! There's always the hair cut option, but personally I think thats alot of stress on the cat. My cats tend to take over chairs more than anything, so ive put towels blankets sheets over them. That way I can just throw it in the washer. And its an easy solution, for when company comes over, to just throw it in the dirty clothes and i have a clean chair! Also cats tend to shed more during 'season' changes. Like the losing of the winter coat, the gaining of the winter coat, etc. Its a lose lose battle, but at least theres things you can do buy whatever to reduce the cat hair pick up.

This is the shedding time of year anyhow. Sure you can try as peekaboo said and bath him, and there is a technique to bathing cats. But what would it benefit you? The loose hair on the cat presently would be washed away, but it will start all over again. You say that you brush the cat, how often? Do a complete body brush much more often. If you are doing it weekly then change it to twice or three times a week. You know what is wrong, how to prevent it. Now it's up to you to do it.

Check for hidden food allergies as well as any vitamins she might be lacking. If there is an allergy to a certain food you're giving her, this can cause hair to come out.

Does she normally shed this much, or has it just reciently started this year? You may want to take her to the vet and check for vitamins and allergies.

It could also be the fact that it's been terribly hot and she's just shedding her coat a lot. I've seen different reasons for shedding.

It's almost impossible to keep cats from shedding their fur, especially in the summer. I have tried brushing ours for 5 minutes every hour for most of the day. It did help but it always seems like there's more. We even had a groomer shave a cat one summer but they don't shave the face nor tail so we still got hair from those places everywhere. If you find the secret let me know! Till then keep on brushing and have fun with your cat!

You may want to try a special comb/brush that's designed specifically to help remove the hair from your kitty's undercoat (something like Vista Pet Shedding Comb). If you're using a brush that just combs over the surface, you're only removing the surface hair. There's probably a lot more hair underneath that needs to come out, particularly with this hot summer we're having.

what do you feed her? look at the lable is the first ingredient corn or something to do with corn, then it is not good for cats, don't know how manufactures can get away with that. I recomend feeding her natural choice complete care indoor formula. it really helps!

go to your vet and tell her the problem and you are doing all the right things to stop it from getting big and brushing to get all the loose hair out and she/he may give you a medicine or something to help reduce the loose hair
good luck, from hannah
