according to the bible lucifer fought god on the plains of heaven and then was cast out and sent to hell where he became known as satan satans objective is to wage war on heaven so why would satan torture humans in hell if he's got a war to plan? or maybe as hell is a 'lake of fire' satan doesn't have to do anything to inflict pain i think many people define hell as absence of God

Hell would be illogical. If you are a God and you love all your creations unconditionally and you are able to forgive anybody (because you are a God!) then it would be illogical for a very loving, forgiving, understanding, non-judgemental character to put anybody in something that is hell. On the other hand, people are capable to put themselves in hell, by beating themselves up about something they have no control over. But when you die, it would be a bit silly to go to hell, if you believe that God created heaven for us all. Anyway, a religion that threatens you with hell if you don't do as you are told, is a bit of a weird one, if you ask me.

"according to the bible lucifer fought god on the plains of heaven and then was cast out and sent to hell where he became known as satan" Where in the Bible does it say this? I have a very good working knowledge of the Bible (as an ordained Christian Minister) and this is just not in there. It may be amongst the apocrytha but it is not actually described in the Bible.
The lake of fire is described in the Bible as are several other places of hellish torture, however these concepts predate the Bible, they even predate the Jewish Torah, they originate in the works of the ancient prophet Zarathustra whose works are found in the Zoroastrian religion and it is from him we gain most of the "Christian" imagery of heaven, hell and angels.
The book of Enoch describes the fallen angels as having been exiled for their insistance on helping educate humans and living amongst them. This gives the impression that Lucifer was a sort of Prometheus rather than simply a clear cut villain.
Probably the most iconographic depiction of hell is that by the Dutch artist Bosch ( http://www.tomgpalmer.com/images/Bosch---Hell.jpg ) and this pretty much shows how the medieval European Christian imagined hell to be. Pretty fanciful stuff but also facinating and very believable to te superstitious.

But is the idea of hell illogical - quite probably but as we have no real imperical evidence either for or against hell a logical proof would be less valid in this day and age as science has far outstipped logic as the main source of validation. To conclude hell does notv really need to be logical as it's existence, or lack thereof, does not depend upon logic.

The Bible tells us that hell is where all people go who die, both good and bad. It is the grave and the first person to go there was Abel, because his brother Cain, murdered him. The churches of Christendom teach that God tortures humans forever in a horrible place, but that is not true. God is love and does not torture anyone. In fact when a person dies, they feel nothing and are aware of nothing as these Scriptures assure us:
Ecclesiastes 9:5: " For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing--"
Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
Psalms 146:4: " His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish."
Satan will be eliminated soon along with death and hell. All will be gone forever.
Revelation 20:13,14: " And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Soon, death and hell will be a thing of the past. Satan will eventually be put out of existance also. Earth will be a wonderful, peaceful planet without Satans evil influence. Mankind will then be happy forever.

In the case of Satan the Devil, he apparently heard God tell Adam and Eve to have children and to fill the earth with their offspring. (Genesis 1:27, 28) ‘Why, all these humans could worship me rather than God!’ Satan evidently thought. He allowed a wrong desire to develop in his heart.(James 1:13-15) Eventually, he took action to deceive Eve by telling her lies about God. (Genesis 3:1-5) He thus became a “Devil,” which means “Slanderer.” At the same time, he became “Satan,” which means “Opposer.”

In the book of Revelation, it talks about a war in heaven in which the Devil and his demons were thrown down to the earth. Woe for the earth is what it tells us. The Devil and his demons are here in the vicinity of the earth.

"Hell" is the common grave of mankind. It is not where bad people go, it's where all dead people go. Satan's plan is to mislead the entire inhabited earth, I would say he is doing a very good job. He convinces people that God is responsible for all the evil that we see on the earth today, or even that God doesn't exist.

Hell isn't what common "christian" people say it is
The soul that sinneth, it shall die! Ezekiel 18:4
1 Timothy 6:16
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

I believe that the soul is the mind and it's the body's software which only functions wile it's animate with the breath of life. Just like you need hardware and electricity for software to work. Then we die I believe our "software" remains dorman until God resurrects us and only he can because the breath orginiated from him and was passed down to us from Adam (the first man). Satan can maquerade as dead loved ones. When we resurrect, it will either be to eternal life or no life at all (your software is deleted from God's hard drive). Like when you're naughty on cyberspace, your account can be cancelled! Hell comes from heaven and restores the Earth.

When you die, there is no sense of time. At resurrection you would think you just died a second ago.

no it's not illogical, hell isn't in the lake of fire until the end. The bible says and death and hell were thrown into the lake of fire along with satan and his angels.

Actually isn't that a combination of Dante's Inferno and Milton's Paradise Lost? Not the Holy Bible.

Satan hates us because God loves us over him. And he is determined to have rule over All his creations including other angels. This is a black and white issue. YOu either choose to be on God's side, or satan gets you.

You have tooooo much time or issues you need to deal with.
But you probably don't agree with me.

That's cool.

Sorry for not being reassuring if that's what you want.
You want a debate you got it.

But I'd still share a drink with you.

Handshake?
