Well some people's answers clearly show that they neglect the acknowledgment of impressing others has never been a personal pleasure of theirs. They act as if your question is some sort of selfish over indulgent act! However, from my personal experience I would usual keep my hair beautifully done and less is more let your natural beauty show where light fleshed toned colors and a beautiful pair of shoes and remember to find a nice conservative out fit that accentuates you best features! Don't forget to use proper etiquette and stay really reserved and speak intelligently. It usually works for me and leaves quite an impression! Wear a color that expresses your personality and then when you all get to know one another better she'll know you for the beautiful person you are!

That is really selfish of you. I'm sure when you get married you wouldn't want any other woman to look better than you. This is not your wedding, it's your future sister-in-law's, so you need to tone it down and let the attention be where it's supposed to, on the bride.
Besides, no matter how pretty you are, there is always someone who looks better than you.

It is your fiance's sisters wedding, you are a guest and need to act appropriately.
If your future mother in law has that kind of effect on you, then you need counseling.
All the Physical grooming in the world can not help you with emotional/mental turmoil.

You want all the eyes focused on you at someone else's wedding! Bet his mom won't think you a 'less' than anyone - she will think you are less than everyone!

Just go dressed nicely, well groomed and if she is still not impressed - ignore her. I too had a mother-in-law from hell and it was never fun.
