ok i'm from maine and all my life i've heard/said "jeezum crow" or "jeezum" instead of jesus or jesus christ (ex: "Jeezum crow!! look at that!!" or "Jeezum crow lucy!!! what are you doing!?") and then i was talking to my friend who moved here from boston almost a year ago and when i said that he had no idea what i was talking about.

he said he has never heard anybody not from maine say "jeezum" and he had never heard "jeezum crow" ever, but then he heard an old guy say the other day and he freaked out because he thought i was kidding. lol.

so i've been wondering if you've ever heard of jeezum or jeezum crow.

thanks. ^_^

MB-i've heard the mike hunt thing before, but "got dandruff"?? i don't get it.

Magus Supremus-haha, good thinking but maine and mass have very very similiar accents, especially this part of maine, so nope, that's not it.

Lupin VI-haha, judas preist, yup, we say that one up here too.

a_delphic_or...-i've never heard of jeezum pete, and it makes no sense to me.

Deanster-i never even thought of that!

I sure have heard jeez um. My 1st husband was from New York and his father, who was originally from New Haven, CT said that ALL THE TIME. I have heard others say it too but never in the South. I have never heard jeez um crow until now, but that is funny. I have heard jeez um pete.

If you find that people are shocked at hearing this word, it's because it is not distinguishable from the very rude slang word that has various spellings, and sounds nearly the same.
