AA Route Planner is good, last time I used a route planner from multi map it got me completely lost!

Go to, theaa.com then on the menu bar click on "travel" fill in the details of your start and finish points, gives full details and a map very easy to use and understand, used it to get from hastings on the south coast to scotland,

Multimap. Click on the "directions" tab. It'll direct you door to door if you have postcodes.
