I just wondering what would happen if every1 dropped their religous beliefs and tried to believe that, while they can make guesses, it is impossible to KNOW what happens after life. That doesn't inlucde the people who have had..um...'religous experiences'..but perhaps those people with the..*er erm*..religous experiences should consider what they are really fighting for? Religion causes a lot of violence in the world today and while religion seems like a good idea for coping with life when u support ur religous *er erm* findings with violence you contribute to make this world a shi*&tier place to live. I am a christian but now I am suddenly going to stop supporting my belief as a fact. so who's ready to say good-bye to religion? Lets stop worrying about what happen's after death and start worrying about what happens during. I'm sure jesus will buy us all a round of beers when we get to heaven if were wrong, but still help eleminate violence in the world.

True, none of us are certain of anything are we? I'm glad one more person, you, has decided to step out of the savage battle and just relax. Let's all chill out and be friendly.

Yngona...how appropriate and to think John Lennon lived years ago yet "Imagine" is so timely today.

I actually did leave my religion, after 40 years of practicing it and doing so pretty darned faithfully I thought...but as hard as I tried to accept the tests, trials, losses, and yes, as grateful as I was for the good things that happened, I began to notice towards the end that when bad things took place and I put all of my faith in God to endure, the trial lasted a fair time, yet when I was through it and grabbed a lesson from it...I put more faith in myself and evreything seemed to right itself again. Onto the next trial a few months or perhaps a year later and again...faith in God, long session, faith in self...success.

The last trial which lasted a little over 3 years due to the fact that for almost 9 months of it we were too stunned to think, another 6 I was in severe depression and finally after we got a grip, we tried God, but I got ticked off and we went to where we are now...non believers. In the end we came out of it so changed and so overwhelmed with how quickly our lives were righting themselves, that we actually were convinced beyond doubt that when we had depended upon ourselves, we came through the trial quickly without any stops, backstepping or casualty.

Today neither I nor my family believe in God, Heaven or Hell...we believe in ourselves, we believe in a good strong morality, in charity, kindness, generosity, tolerance etc., etc., but we believe in those things not because we are told we must in order to get into somewhere...but because we instinctively know this is how we should live and freely choose to live. We have actually gone over 7 years without a single trial, tribulation or situation where we felt we were being punished. Actually, we've had only gifts these years, things that we had never expected would take place yet have and I must say that we are now truly blessed...but I do not thank a God for it...I thank our life's direction and the universe whatever that may be. For us, this is the right track.

So, yes, I believe that if the Bible was not what some people based everything on, if they chose to work as hard at being peace makers and brethren in life as they do in fighting for what they think they are being led to do, that perhaps this World might have a chance.

As it stands, guns are raised, bombs are dropped people die daily, all because a God and a Book lead people, many of whom read into both things, something that isn't or shouldn't be there.

My life as a non believer has actually been better...no it's been great and the stress if one can call it that, to conform to something that may or may not exist is gone. No one knows what awaits anyone...and if they do...are they not "soothsayers" or in today's language "psyhics", which of course religion does not condone nor accept?

The Bible, is it not a work of psychic ability in places? Why is Nostrodamus not a prophet? In short, finally :) I have to agree that religion driven wars might not exist if humans could co exist and each let the other believe in what they feel most comfortable believing in. No more need to convert, no more you are lesser than I because you are of this belief, etc.

Of all the beliefs I think it will be quite interesting to see who actually does survive, if that is even the end purpose here.

Yeah, I know....why are my posts always so friggin long!! :)

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

-John Lennon

Whatever you say, I'll never give up my faith in Jesus. Sorry. I try to be a peacemaker because it's the teaching given by the Bible. "blessed be the peacemakers". The great commandement is to love one's eighbour. So when religion kills to convert they are wrong. This is not God's word. The Bible also says (Tite)
"3. For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
4. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,
5. He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
6. whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7. so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8. This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.
9. But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. "

avoid foolish controversies and strifes...we shud give up these stupids discussions which lead to nothing and try to make a better world. God can help us. religions are man-made. God is above them He doesn't need them. We shud respect his command. men are sinners. the devil tries to separate us from the Lord. We shud not break up from the Lord but from the Devil. That's a huge difference.
By the way I still don't know how to contact you, and there's no way I'm showing my e-mail on the web.

I think the world would be a better place without politics, religion and all of that other crazy stuff we humans think of. But then again, without it we would have no sense of direction in life and the human race could simply be nonexistant....I think we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.
