Leave the vacuum on while you address your dog. Mine was doing that and I used one of the 'Dog Whisperer's' techniques of immediately addressing my pit when he started lunging at my vacuum cleaner. I stopped, got between him and the vacuum and let him know by 'Pssting', snapping my fingers and getting his attention that his behavior wouldn't be tolerated. It took about 30 seconds for him to get the idea. Now I just have to 'Psst' and put my hand out for him to stop. He sits back and looks at me like, "Oh. Okay."

You know, I don't know what the thing with dogs and vacuums is! My dog thinks the vacuum is the devil! Lol! I wish I knew how to reassure her that the vacuum isn't evil. I think I've tried about everything. I've come to the conclusion she thinks it's a game. I basically gave up trying to get her to stop and now I just let her lunge at it while I run it. :s Sometimes, if she's being particularly annoying, I run it in her direction and she takes off out of the room like the devil is chasing her.

I actually doodled a cartoon picture of my dog hiding from the vacuum on a used paper towel and forgot it on the counter... my husband found it and won't let me throw it away now!! My dog's an American Pit Bull Terrier and i saw a doggie t-shirt on cafepress.com that said something like "Pit Bulls Against Vacuum Cleaners" on it. I thought it was funny.

I find it weird my dog has no problem at all with the vacuum cleaner. She will sit there and watch me vacuum. Sometimes she will sit where I need to vacuum and I nudge away with the vacuum. She loves the leaf blower, my fiance would chase her with it so everytime the leafblower is turned on she will start running and wanting him to chase her with it. I thought that was cute. I don't know if it is because she got use to the noise or what. She loves being blowdried too.

you can go to perfectpaws.com and they have a bunch of training tips. including dealing with the loud noises that dogs don't like. good luck

hmmm, That's curious. My dog doesn't mind the vacuum cleaner, but it drives one of my birds up the wall. I wouldn't react and yell at the dog to be quiet (which is EVERYBODY'S first reaction. It gets so annoying!) If you can just ignore the barking and try to reassure the dog it might help. I do this with my bird and he usually does stop freaking out. Now, if only you have a 'birddog' Hahahahah! er, it really wasn't that funny, was it? Okay, I'll go away now.

It is crazy! One dog just hides with the cats-yea! The other used to bark at and try to attack the vacuum and the broom or rake and the leaf blower! I started out just removing the animals when I did these things. Now, when I get out the vacuum, I let them see it and leave space for the hiding one to run to his crate and I tell the other dog to "go downstairs", if I'm upstairs, or ask her if she wants to go out. And I did do the teaching not to be fearful of noises, etc., the person quoting "Dog Whisperer" and all training books describe. But, my goal was to keep them out from underfoot for this, so allowing them to think the vacuum's powers are to be awed, and keep your distance from, was a good thing. I just turned the lunging behavior into one of getting away from me.

I think my dog is afraid the big evil machine is going to attack me. He chases it and acts all big and bad until I turn it in his direction, then he tucks his tail and runs. Some days its funny, some days not so much. If your dog listens to you pretty well just say "no" and don't give him any other attention one way or the other. There's always the option of throwing him outside while you vacuum too, if you really don't feel like listening to him.

My dog barks at it because he doesn't like the vacuum by his bed area. I just would phase out his interest in the vacuum by having it by his area (while it's off) and praise him for being quiet around it. Then progressively got closer to his bed (while it's on) and praised him every time he reacted nicely.

robotic vaccums are absolute garbage. they provide the impact of being all fancy and robust a sears, yet once you deliver it abode all they do is roll down the steps and spook your cat. at the initiating they dont get pressed to the floor, like a human could to an ordinary vaccum. they merely basicly drift round and get the airborne dirt and dust off the properly. They leave all huge issues in the back of and it doesnt make your flooring any cleanser. additionally they leave the airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust, airborne dirt and dust, and sand deep down in carpets that is undesirable for those with bronchial asthma and different respitory complications. 2d of all how could slightly round gadget like that get each of the abode? it can take days for it to cover all of your position. third they cant raise up furnishings or bypass over thresholds, meaning they cant get lower than certain chairs and table. that still signifies that they cant bypass into distinct rooms (which shouldnt count number because the bypass so sluggish in any case). desire this helped
