* Mace is an irritant that is very similar to tear gas.

* Unlike pepper spray which is an inflammatory agent, Mace is an irritant.

* Pepper spray will have an effect on those that feel no pain such as those under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Mace may or may not have an effect on these types.

* Unlike pepper spray Mace will NOT cause inflammation of the capillaries causing temporary blindness, nausea, cut off all but life support breathing and create a very strong burning or stinging sensation.

* It is important to note that Mace is also a brand name.

Because theres a lot of dumb people who dont take mace seriously as a weapon and defense mechanism. They would be playing with it and not really know how to handle it and use it only when necessary.

It is only illegal if you attack someone with it. Some states may require training and/or a permit to carry it.

It's extremely toxic and can blind a person. Solid particles of powder fired from these weapons cause mechanical as well as chemical injuries, especially if they are fired at close range.

I didn't know it is I don't leave home without it.What state are you in?Also we sell it over the counter at a security supply house and you don't need anything but an account to buy it. You can also buy it at gun shows no problem.

I don't know why any self-defense items are illegal. When they become illegal, criminals don't stop acquiring them.
