back in january i dyed my hair back to what my stylist said was my natural color, but when it dried it was very dark and did not look good on me at all. now its been 8 months and it has faded a lot and now is a golden brown and my roots are showing a lot. do you think i should go medium blonde or use a color corrector done by a professional and find my real natural color.

I wouldn't waste money to find out my natural color. I would try to find a color that looks good on me. I know plenty of people with their natural color look dull and plain jane, but when they dye their hair they look amazing!

Just because you were born with a color doesn't mean you are supposed to keep it!

As a hairdresser if you were my client I would recommend getting highlights to help cover the dark roots and blend the colored hair. You only want to go about 2 shades lighter than your roots for a nice blended color. I suggest pulling it through a cap for a very even effect rather than foiling. I will be happy to tell you what you can buy at your local beauty supply to do this yourself if you e-mail me. If you decide to go with an all over color, it sounds like you need to use an ash tone to counter the red / gold that dark hair shows sometimes. Medium ash blonde would probably work well for you - depending on how dark your hair is naturally. Hope that helps!

a lot of times when you go from a natural color that is dark to other lighter colors & you go back to natural it's too dark on you. I've had this happen to me. First you're going to have to redye your hair your natural color. if your newgrowth is showing it either wasn't your original color or your base was very light wich caused your hair to fade. Once you dye your hair back(or at the same time) have some highlights put in maybe a few shades lighter than your natural color. Have them done really thin you don't want the chunky ones. what this will do is allow you to have your natural dark hair without it looking too dark on you.
