They would be forced to accept responsibility for their own actions, and to truly treat others as they would wish to be treated because it is the best way for society to function, and not because a bogyman held punishment over their heads.

They don't fear a life without god, they fear what people will think if they tell the truth that they don't believe in god.

First of all, without God, there would be NO life. He gave His life so that we could have life and the least we can do is live our lives for Him. I could not make it through my life without God. He helps me and gives me strength. Not everything is perfect in life, but when things happen and things go wrong, God is ALWAYS there to help you. Why would you want to live a life without God? He is the Best friend you could ever have. It is a fearful thing to live without God. Without Him, you cannot make it to Heaven. You will go to Hell. and that is VERY FEARFUL!! I hope someone who reads this who does not know God that they would come to know Him. I do not know anybody who has accepted Christ as their Saviour that has regretted it. You won't either. It gets better all the time. It NEVER gets old! All you have to do to be saved is believe that Jesus came ad Died for YOU! so that you could go to heaven and spend eternity with him in a PERFECT land. no sickness, no death, no crying, ..
You will not regret it.

While some people say that religious people use god(s) as a crutch to not take responsibility for their own decisions and actions, I don't agree.

I think it is more likely that many are afraid that without religious guidelines from God, they won't be able to trust the actions of their neighbors. If you are dealing with someone else who follows your same religious beliefs you can more easily predict and rely on their behavior.

I don't fear life with out a "god". I thank my parents for that. I was fortunate that my parents didn't raise me in a religion. I refuse to enslave my mind in that trap. I don't know why some people fear a life without a "god". I can only guess that perhaps they fear the unknown after our body dies. So somewhere in the past somebody figuresd that there must be a higher power to explain how we came to be, and why are we here. So that's the best I can do for you.

Because things are bad enough with a God. Just imagine how much worse it would be without God.

Very good question. This one made me think?

I don't really fear it though. I know what it is like to live my life without Jesus. I now know what it is like to live my life with Jesus. My choice is to stay with him. Not out of fear, but out of love, faith, and down right common sense.

We are his children. He loves me like I love my children. Even more. More than I can ever imagine. I see what my belief and faith has done for my life. Sure, I live through the good and the bad, but this is a worldly place we live. God does not keep us immune from the world, but helps us through the good and bad and bring us through to better times. I think that is great.

I do not fear my life without God. God does not wish to hurt you. God does not want you to run and hide. He is not throwing fear out there to get you to believe. Just the opposite. He loves you and wants you to see how good it is with him in your life. This doesn't instill a fear in me, but more a sense of peace and love that I have him as my rock and place to go in times of weakness and worldy fear.
