Usually (in the US anyway) the only atheists who need to fear Christians are the atheists who treat their beliefs as a religion and try to convert people--usually by calling the religion of everyone else stupid with one word or another, and acting like anyone with brains could see it.
While Christians shouldn't act out against you in a way that can hurt you (against their religion, you know), attacking someone's deeply held beliefs can produce responses of extreme anger. It's like someone insulting your family--you know it isn't true and it shouldn't bother you, but if someone calls your mom a whore and you have a moment of weakness, you could lose your self control and pop the guy in the nose. Doesn't make it right, but it happens.
Believe what you want, but be careful if you ever decide to attack the beliefs of others. Your best bet might be to find out whatever you can about other people's religions--at the very least you'll understand where they are coming from, and they'll be glad to tell you about it.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Luckily many skeptics tend to move in circles where that's not an issue - the sciences, academia, etc. And, as in your case, the places near the metro areas don't go in for too much of that fanaticism. We even have organizations, like the Ethical Humanist Society, which is highly regarded.
Just don't make too big a deal out of your skepticism when you're in Leftovershoe Alabama. My kids went through it and didn't have a problem.

My daughter's bf is a shhhhhhhh ''atheist.'' i admire him and concept he substitute into beautiful yet substitute into afraid he might waste his time right here harassing Christians and in no way artwork a real interest. Then a glimmer of self understanding flickered on the horizon and that i found out no longer all atheists do certainly one of those element. Many have genuine jobs and considerable issues to do.Many might in no way waste their time right here. i might desire to in no way hate atheists in accordance with their biased portrayal of Christians in action picture, television and the medical community. curiously ''different '' religions are controlling the media that are actually not Christian yet adversarial to Christianity. Many homosexuals flock to careers in sunny California the place they want to be primary or maybe get preferential scientific care and a ticker parade for in basic terms being prepared to return out of the closet. a number of those are atheists based on the Bible announcing their habit is an abomination to God. although, the atheists could be beautiful ins social communities as long as you keep them off the subject of religion.

No, most people really don't care whether you believe in a God or not. The notion that athiests are some sort of minority and are hated is an example of self-obsession. To a self-obsessed person, if he is a "hated minority" then he is an important and innocent victim who should be paid attention to. Such people would prefer to be hated than ignored. Don't worry, for most people, non-belief is a non-issue (unless you want to make it an issue)

I do not believe the TV show you were watching was correct. But regardless, I do not feel threatened by religion. Always remember to educate yourself. Read the bible, ask questions. Believe what you feel is correct in your heart and in you mind. Do not be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, you will be a better person for it. Good Luck.

Don't feel threatened little one, Stand proud in knowing that you can use your brain and logic unlike so many in this country. But I do question the accuracy of the program you watched. I belong to alot of groups that number in the tens of thousands, so I really don't think we're a minority.

Polls can be manipulated to prove a point. Did they ask 1000 people nationwide, or in a small area? How were the questions phrased. Don't take what the media shows you too literally, as people can and will do what they have to, to prove a point.

That is true and it is sad. I am not against Atheists, because I know why they are that way, but many people are so damn closed-minded. I do believe in God and have a reason for it, but I know why Atheist do not and I respect that.

Most hated in america? I doubt african-american's would agree. Honestly, if someone hates you because of what you believe, you should consider it a positive; they just saved you time! Who'd want to know anyone like that?
