Tell your sister exactly what you told us. She isn't really a huge part of your life, you said it yourself. She might be your sister, but that doesn't mean much now a days. I have two brothers, but I have male friends who are better 'brothers' than my own.
This will give you and her a chance to start creating a better bond and working on being more sisterly toward eachother. Good luck.

It is really none of your sisters business what you give your friend. If she all of a sudden wants you back in her life because of that she is just after money, or at least another ring. You have better things to do with your life than to waste it with your sister. Good luck

She is your sister don't leave her out. I lost my sister when we were 25 and I know that she is in Heaven but I miss her like crazy because she was my twin. Regardless, of what family do or say, you stick by your family. She is your sister and nothing will ever change that but when she is gone how are you going to feel? Don't treat your friend better than your sister. It's not worth it and regardless of what your sister says, trust me she needs you in her life. Just be patient and work with her. It will all work out. I'm gonna pray for the 2 of you.

How did your sister find out? If you tossed out that little diamond ring detail to her just to make her angry and jealous, apparently it worked. Remember, though, family is forever. Try to apologize to your sister and explain to her that it wasn't meant to hurt her, but rather, a thank you to your friend for her kindness and support. Maybe that will be a bit of a hint to your sister that you're looking for that kind of relationship with her.

I would do the same. My best friend is my sister in law, I lucked out twice. I'm not close to my sister either. Tell your sister to get over it. Peace;)

Tell her to get over it. She might of gotten a diamond ring if she was closer to you but she isn't that is her fault.

apologize and give her one of those fake rings from those quarter maching from the local grociery store. or buy her a scratch card and tell her you were hoping she'd win 7836248972346 dollars. and when she doesnt tell her its the thought that counts. and hug her.
