I had similar from an 0161 number, don't know if it's the same.

I put it down to a cold caller who is trying to up their call stats.

They get checked how many calls they make in an hour. If they find one that goes through to voicemail, they will use it a few times to save them having to talk to anyone.

SAD BUT TRUE

Not sure, but it's a manchester Code if that helps. It's probably tele sales, your number is put on the computer with many others and the first to answer gets the usual garbage talk.

Have you called it back?
I don't think it's a business, it doesn't come up on any searches.
Could you have a prank caller from Manchester? It's a Manchester number.

It'll probably be a billing company. They have automated diallers ringing people, then when you answer someone will pick the phone up at the other end. Try holding on for a few more seconds.

I've never seen a phone number quite like that? Did you type something wrong?

Based on what you offered, it could be a fax machine number.

Don't ring it!
I had a similar one once and BT said it might be a scam.
When you ring, they tap into your line and ring their own premium rate numbers withit. It could cost you a fortune!

It could be one of two things. It could be that a fax machine is trying to call you, someone put in your number by mistake. Or it could be one of those automated switchboards on auto dial. Contact your operator who should sort it out.
