I understand that these were all enlightened prophets. Each one saying basically the same thing.

People should not spend too much time thinking about those individuals.
Get yourself a plasma TV and watch interesting HD programs. Life is more than just Buddha, Jesus, Moses, Mu hammed and the rest of those clowns.

Because they all followed different paths. Although not as apparent at first, the more you research, the more you would recognize this difference. Jesus taught that he was the son of God, Buddha taught how become enlightened through nirvana, Muhammed killed those who were against islam. They're teachings contradict each other, and where there is contradiction, there is no truth, right?

they are Not the same> buddha was a teacher, moses a prophet, muhammad a prophet and conquerer, ghandi a spiritual leader, Jesus was the annointed one/messiah meaning he is the inheritor of God's kingdom> Jesus is lord and savior.

why is it so hard to recognize that sand is actually just frozen cheese?
Jesus is nothing like all those others. The only thing He has in common with them is that they were men, and He was physically here on earth as a man. (I guess you could find some other similarities, too, like that they were all teachers, but that's where the similarities end).
All those others are still in their graves. And they were only mere men. Jesus is no longer in His grave, He was raised up from the dead by the Father and now sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. Those others are in Hell and always will be.
Jesus was both man and God. He was fully man and fully God. All of those others were merely fully man. Not divine in the least.
sure, some of them had some good ideas, but nothing close to the teachings of Jesus.
and one of them "married" a little girl when she was six (and he was over 50 years old). . and then he "consummated his marriage to her" (raped her) when she was nine.
can you guess which one that was?
go here to find out:
http://www.prophetofdoom.net
It will open your eyes about one of them.
Oh, here's a quick hint. If you can't tell which one of the above men I am talking about, his followers (following his directions and teachings) just tried to blow up 20 planes flying from England to the US today). Now can you guess?

Ghandi lived like 50 years ago. You realize that right. I think his wife is still alive. Yeah. I think you got it. Award for dumbest question of the day. Congratulations.

Because they are/were not the same person. They were all born and lived at different times and taught very different things in very different places.

I wish you'd take Gandhi out of that line-up. Unlike the others, we know what he wrote, meant, believed in, liked, disliked, etc. Those others? Mere speculation.
