I've had pit bulls and pit bull mixes all my adulthood. Buy a black 'KONG' toy (rubber toy that's guaranteed for life and the only one mine haven't destroyed immediately) and play fetch with him/her. They LOVE tug-of-war but the older YOU get, the harder that becomes. Make sure you socialize your pit. They are people dogs. Walk him/her every day or they'll have pent-up energy that COULD manifest itself in bad behavior. And lastly, love your pit lots. They are a part of your family now.

Anything vigorous enough that he falls over in s stupor when he's done...in other words...the more the merrier...you will have one happy dog.
Get to know this guy from the link here...he always had good advice...watch him on National Geographic Channel too.

swimming is really good for dogs, especially because it is easy on the joints, they enjoy it while staying cool and provides a lot of excersise.

you could teach him tricks, play with him, or take him out for a walk (as long as he's on a leash) .
