I really try to answer a question honestly and to the best of my ability. If I don't know the answer, I just don't answer it.
The occasional sarcastic answers are good for a laugh. I wouldn't be sarcastic if someone had a question on a sensitive topic, though. That's mean.

I adore yahoo answers! Because you can meet new people, and learn new things. You can share, you can be funny, and yes, I think that you can help people. When I ask a question on answers, I'm looking for someone who's been where I have. It's not necessarily about getting your problem solved...the idea is to learn, at least for me. I think that is possible to make a difference in other people's lives. If you've made somebody laugh and forget their pain, only for a moment, then you've made a difference. If you've shared some advice and it was comforting, then you've made a difference. It's small, but small steps are worth taking. Sometimes I answer a particular question because it's funny, and there is no higher cause behind it. Y!A is annonymous, which gives people the freedom to use it any way they please. Those rude people I think maybe need to be rude, maybe they have a lot of pain in their lives and that is the only way they know how to combat it. If I don't like an answer to my question, I just ignore it and allow that person to be what they choose to be on Y!A. I know who I am and what I'm doing when I answer a question. I feel good about my choices and I have no regrets. Go on helping people. We appreciate it more than you know.

I answer questions here to keep my knowledge base sharp. Being a nurse, I need to be up on stuff, if I find a question here I cannot answer...I find out what the answer is. Also, seeing the questions and the trends they take helps me in understanding where my clients might be coming from as well. I benefit a great deal from answering questions here. If indeed people read my answers and do something constructive with the information, then I am glad....but, it has been my experience that very few actually listen or follow the advice offered. I just try to get the information out there so people can be informed.

There are some people on Yahoo Answers that are really looking for help - and when I spot one of those questions, I do my best to be as detailed and helpful as possible. More and more often, though, the questions are not of a serious nature, so I think that many people have adopted the habit of typing a few words as their answer to get the 2 points, and moving on. I admit that some of my answers were a little "smart-a$$" but I try to reserve those answers for non-serious inquiries.

I try to help when I see questions about something that I know enough about to be able to help. When I feel like I CAN help, I really try to. When I don't know enough about the subject to be of any help, I don't answer the question. A wrong answer can be worse than no answer in many cases, especially in health related questions. I wish more people would realize that.

You go Ladybug. You know people are funny creatures, some people don't care about just laying there garbage out there and just get there kicks, but there are people that really do care. When I answer questions they are from the heart. There will always be those people who have way different ways of expressing there feelings but we do live in the U>S and freedom of speech is what this country is all about. Thank God for people out there who really care about other peoples feelings. God Bless you

I can not speak for other people, but I personally try my best to help other people. I have had many negative and positive experiences in my life for a reason. Most of the time I have had a negative experience, someone who was a stranger, helped me out which led to a positive experience. In all seriousness, I love to try and help other people... even if I can not provide a solution I will always try to point a person in a direction to find an answer. People have always helped me, and in return, I will always try to help people back. What comes around... goes around!

Every question I answer is taken seriously and answered as such. I believe, as you do, that most people are really seeking solutions to situations they find themselves in and I do my best to help. I realize my answer may not be what they're looking for but I always answer with what I believe to be the best solution given my own experiences.
