Teach people to think for themselves and they won't need a childish crutch like religion.

Let's see. You could try persecution or war.
No wait, they've been persecuting Christians since the beginning. That hasn't worked, has it?
There have been many religious wars, and yet Christianity and Islam are still around.
Maybe try biological warfare, or weapons of mass destruction.
That could work. If all humans were dead, there would be no more religions of any kind, right?
Or we could just keep abusing our planet until it can no longer sustain life. The rate we're going it won't take long.
That will solve your Christian and Islamic problem nicely.
Other than eliminating the human race, you don't have too many options. Religion will be around forever, just like intolerance of other people's beliefs. Guess you're out of luck.

spiritual belief is great as long as it doesn't force a person to become a mindless sheep and accept a bunch of ridiculous ideology like a lot of religious scams do-
(that way they know they got a good "donater" and the preacher man can pay his rent- hence the "sheep" danger-wolf warning!)
BUT- people striving to become better human beings and be kind and fair to each other- that works for me.
If people are killing each other over religion, well, they have missed the barn door by a sadly wide margin of error-
Past spiritual masters didn't want people killing each other it. Just wait till you get to talk it over with "the BIG guy"! LOL

Lots of totalitarians have tried to put an end to Christianity -- from the Roman emperors to much more recent Communist dictators.
But one would be pretty hard-pressed to put an end to a religion with over 2 billion adherents. Especially when that religion is the truth.

Christianity will always be.
Islam will end when Jesus Christ returns to a regenerated earth with ten thousands of His Saints, to rule and reign forever.

For that to happen we would need to first rid ourselves of all the lower intelligent life forms that still need religion in their lives to have a reason to live
