The first commandment said to not worship anyone else but god.
Not to mention I see allot of churches with a statue of Jesus in it which i think violates the 2ND commandment (idolatry). I recall Jesus saying that his teachings were the only path , but I never recall him saying to worship him.

The first commandment DID say not to worship anyone else but God. But Jesus IS the physical manifestation of God. Worshiping Jesus IS worshiping God.

As for statues of Jesus, the bible never says ANYWHERE not to make statues. It just says not to worship them. Art can be a wonderful expression of the artist's love for his or her God.

And Jesus said in John 14:6 "I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." He didn't say "My teachings are the way,..."

So, no. Worshiping Jesus is not a sin.

Statues of Jesus may be hanging in churches, but people do not worship the statues as people worshipped the golden calf in the Old Testament. Statues today remind us to think of Jesus and his teachings, compassion, wisdom, etc. If we were to make the statue more important than God himself, that would be a problem.

Secondly, Jesus is God, so it is appropriate to worship him. God created humans (in my opinion, through evolution). We are sinners and need a lot of help, so God became man and came down in the form of Jesus to help us and show compassion and truth. He was perfect. That is why he could die for us and take the burden of our sins. That is why he was the only human to rise from the dead - because he is God. Even the deciples didn't fully understand this concept until Jesus had risen from the dead. Check out these verses:

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."
Mark 28:8-10 NIV

38"Yes, Lord," the man said, "I believe!" And he worshiped Jesus.

39Then Jesus told him, "I have come to judge the world. I have come to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind."
John 9:38-39, NLT

These are just a couple incidences of people worshipping Jesus, and he did not say that they shouldn't be doing that.

Christians believe that Jesus is God, the second person of the Holy Trinity.

Therefore worshiping Jesus does not break the First Commandment.

With love in Christ.

If Jesus was not God it would be a sin but since He is God in the flesh, it is not. God the Father said He was HIs Son so what more proof do you need? If you have to go through Jesus to get to Heaven, don't you think He would be one that you would want to get close to and worship as well as the Father?

Jesus is called God in Scripture. If He is indeed God then worship of God is correct. How could that violate the command He gave? I could go back into the discussion of the trinue God but I doubt it would help you understand. I go just this far today The Father is God the Son is God and the Spirit is God... There is One God.. Jesus IS God: He is the second person of the Holy Trinity. Furthermore, art which draws one's heart and soul closer to God is not a sin: worshipping these images is a sin because it is only a reflection, not a truth in itself.

Contrary to some beliefs God & Jesus are not physically (so to speak) the same. Jesus often references the Father as a seperate being. Pictures depicted to supposedly be Jesus are not bad becuase there are not to be images of God, since the two are seperate beings then it's ok.

JOHN 8:18

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

Well, Jesus and God are one. God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are all aspects of the one true God. So, to answer your question, no it is not a sin to worship Jesus.

People get confused by this a lot, especially the fanatically religious. Jesus is NOT God. Jesus was the SON of god. Only GOD is GOD! Clear enough?

It is sin to worship anybody except God. Jesus is His prophet, not Son, not God himself

It is sin to worship idols, animals, statues, icons, crosses, prophets, Mary, human beings...
