He was a man that had a different delusion than all of the rest of the delusional people in the world, and thus he decided to start infecting others with his version of a delusion.
And this children is how the Mormon religion got started.

I am not surprised at all the misconceptions there are of Mormonism. They DO NOT believe he is a God, not yet anyway. Smith was a strong, good looking, extremely intelligent man who had great skills in manipulation. He could talk the birds out of the trees.. It's a shame he didn't use this talent for good rather than yo lead people in serious error. The Church he founded today is a great organization what does many wonderful works. They no longer have more than one wife. They don't dress funny. They have fine morals. They just believe Jesus to be a creation of a god that was created by a god who was created by a god.... The Mormon god is a created being. The God of the Bible is all the God there is, the only God there is, the Only God that will ever be...Jim

Not "profit" like money...Prophet of God. Yes, he was most certainly a Prophet of the Lord, translator of the Book of Mormon, first President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a martyr, a husband, a father, and so on. He saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and was instructed by Them to organize Their church.

A poor misguided soul who misinterpreted the angel of light (Satan) to be God then started an even more misguided religion. I like the pun on the Profit -vs-Prophet idea too. He was a treasure hunter and did that as a hobby.

No a "profit" is an increase of money in a business transaction.
Was that supposed to be a trick question?

No he was not a prophet, he claims Jesus came back to earth in the 1800's and appeared before him, and according to the Bible Jesus will not return to this earth until the time of Redemption, he also was a liar, a bigamist, certainly not qualities that a prophet of God would have.

To what I am led to believe he was a prophet. They percieve him to be an incarnate of GOD.They worship him just as the christians worship jesus.I read the bible and the quran plenty of times.I have the book of mormons sitting on the desk in my room, but I will not read it.I also think they look at all of thier priests as prophets. But the answer to your question is, they believe he is a prophet and an incarnate of GOD.

I don't see how one can be a Bible-believing Christian and believe in the teachings of Joseph Smith.

He was a lier or he believed demons! he claimed that we actually saw and spoke to God and jesus in person and that through him they wanted him to rewrite the Bible and its doctrines ie, the LDS Church. Jesus forwarned of people claiming to see him and he instructed us not to follow them! Plus, the Bible claerly states that no one has ever seen God's face.
