I'm sure christians will say no. But, doesn't the old traditional belief of my ancestors hold as much merrit as others? If you say no, and that I'm going to hell, does that make you a racist towards my people?

I absolutely respect to your ancestors beliefs, also i fantasize on that, even i consider myself a warrior maybe a BERSERK , and dream of a beautiful Valkyrie who comes in my final hour to join them in there.
But then i come to reality and to my sadness.Cause i'm not a descendant from vikings and also i'm christian, so.
I hope that i write it well!

This type of philosophy, which is similar to that of Islamic fundamentalist combatants, is kind of dangerous. That is why we have very much grown out of it in the Nordic Countries.
The history of the groups of (very mixed) people called by us the Vikings is very interesting. In fact all indicates that it was a quite egalitarian society and with great respect for other peoples and cultures. Most likely they did not called themselves Vikings - which seems to be a Romantic name invention - but Norsemen or Rus. Viking is a verb describing an action. The Viking period was very short, from 793 to1066. The Norsemen became also famous as elite warriors in the Roman empire (eastern or Byzantium or Constantinople). The Norsemen also became important trade and war allies of the Arabs and later the Muslims. That is why one finds some many Arabic coins in the archaeological sites of the time. You can read more about then here, for instance:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking
om Thor you can read here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/thor
And by the way - No, if you accept or believe in Thor and die in battle you would not go to Valhalla. It would depend on how you died and more important how you lived. And ancestry has nothing to do with it actually.

I think you should be able to believe anything you want. Personally I don 't have much use for any type of religion. I figure that if you believe in the merits of mankind and type to be a good person, that's all that matters. You're not a racist and you won't go to heill. There is no hell. We are living it right now.

I envy your heritage!! I'm a big viking fan! I'm learning swedish for the hell of it, and I even drive a Saab!

Anyway, I do believe you would go to Valhalla. I don't see why the Norse gods would deny you that. And I don't think the Christian God would force you into heaven.

don't worry, you are not going to hell after you die, as a matter of fact, you are not going ANYWHERE after death. valhalla, and the christian concept of heaven and hell are just lies people make up to appease their fear of death and at the same time pretend that life has some greater meaning.

if you like many others couldn't handle the fact that death is the final destination. simply disregard all the facts and sound theories that point to that direction, and revert to your fantasies about the valkyries and valiant death, and while you are at it, throw in the unicorns and dragons.

we all pick and choose the lies we want to believe in and live with in order to sustain a content existence.

No. Women only go to Hades, sorry but that is the correct religious interpretation.

There is no rule on Valkeries though...you might become one of them.

You won't know until you try it. Give it a go, then come back and let us know if it worked. No stranger than any other religious belief.
