I just cant figure it ou.. Why do people act like a dog is a person??? They act like they should just know what manners are and that they do not need a leader....In the wild there is one and only one PACK Leader... why do people not think about these things and just pamper there dog..... People do not treat there kids as good as they do their dog... they would expect a quick reaction from a kid if they told them to do somthing why not the dog???

I just wanted to say yes I do watch Ceasar and have even started to impliment his techniques into my lifestyle. I have had amazing results. to the person wo said it dont work it is prolly because you do not have your energy.and are you walking your dog.... that is the key... walk... as for the one who said the dominance stuff is a bunch of bull....Well I say you are wrong.... Why would the way a wolf acts in the wild not apply to a dog today?All domesticated dogs have a wolf in their line... we bred wolves to fit our needs....but there are some things you can not breed out. like how they commuincat with each other. as far as the confusing part as to why you would expect a quick response from a kid and not a dog it is in refrence to the fact that Pack leaders do not ask they expect it and demand it.

Well, all that dominance stuff has been proven wrong by animal behaviorists. There was study done on wolves like 30 years ago that had some major flaws that were discovered later and that's where all the I MUST DOMINATE AND ALPHA-ROLL MY DOG bull came from.
But dogs do need a leader and they do have their own way of seeing the world. They don't speak English which is why I always crack up at the "Just tell him 'no!'" answers. Dogs only do what is good for them. Make behaving the way you want them to worth their while, and they will behave. Just yell and scream at them and jump on top of them all day and they will fear you and still not really know how to behave. They just know that every now and then their person, for no discernable reason, flips out and jumps on top of them.

That implies to work with dogs, a person needs to be more like a dog. Isn't that just as bad as a dog who is dressed up & treated like a person?
Nothing wrong with pampering as long as the dog learns manners as well.

Some dogs are treated like family members because they are considered family members, We are not talking about "wild" dogs, these are domesticated animals that have become part of our lives.
I am a bit confused tho' - first you want to know why people treat their dogs like humans and then ask a question as to why humans don't expect a human reaction from a dog.

I've spent a lot of time working with dogs, and this irritates me too. Especially when it comes to housebreaking! I've seen so many people who give up dogs because they aren't catching on to the training, when it's the people who are trying to train the dog as if it were a person rather than an animal.

Because dogs can be cute and cuddly and the never talk back. If they get mad, they get over it really quick unlike people.

My father always said his dog was better behaved than his kids and gave him more respect than we did - and when we were teens it was true.
