Do you believe in literal Genesis? If not, how do you work science into your belief of the Bible? If you don't believe in the Bible, how do you feel you know the truth?

Just curious on how other people resolve this. Please give only serious answers. I'm not interested in answers like "There is no God so..." or "Evolution is true because..."
Also, if you feel the need to insult the intelligence of Christians please do so somewhere else.

I believe in God (only the one in the Bible). I believe that the Bible is the inspired infallible word of God. I see creation as it is portrayed in the book of Genesis. God created the universe and everything in it in 6 literal 24 hour days. I believe in Noah's flood. So far in life I see no problem with believing this. I can not prove what I believe in a laboratory, I can only refer you to the Scripture where it is recorded.
Now, I also believe in science. Science is a great. I trust science. Evolution is not science. It is an unproven theory. No credible scientist can stand up in public and defend evolution as fact. He/she may proclaim all the work that goes on daily in the pursuit of proof for evolution, but can to date produce none. Millions upon millions of dollars have been spent to compile and study the tons of bones we have today. Excusing all the past fraud in paleontology (missing links), all we have is bones. No missing link yet.
Many will scoff at creation and miracles. But they only replace it with fantasy. That fantasy is neatly wrapped up in a package called evolution. Why so many scientist (about 55%) still hold on to this myth is interesting. I wonder how many hate God.

I believe in a literal Genesis creation. The truth of the matter is that evolution can be theorized, but not proved. Simply no one can go back millions of years ago. It used to be called the theory of evolution, they've dropped the theory but it's still a theory. With all the scientific 'proof' there are scientist that believe in creation that can use science to 'prove' creation. It's easier for me to believe that God has always existed, then to believe that life happened by chance. People will make the statement , well who created God. But something has had to always exists. Whatever version of evolution you believe, there had to be something out there to start the evolution process. Whether that's gasses or rocks. Something came from somewhere. When we look at human's at morality (even the most basic like stealing is wrong, rape is wrong, murder is wrong) of we were an accident and just happened by chance, then there is no right or wrong. It was made up by man so man can change it.

Also there are always the comments about the skeletal remains of cavemen. But if we look at the bible, prior to the flood there was a canopy of moisture that covered the earth and blocked out much of the sun's harmful rays. So man lived much longer, Moses was like 900 years old. Science shows that our heads continue to grow. A hat that fit at 20 will me to small at 70. Can you imagine 400, 500,900 years of growth.

My point is it is easier to believe that we were created on purpose than an accident. God has the power to create, he didn't need millions of years to do it.

God is truth. Science pursues the truth.
God is creator. Science tries to understand creation.

Genesis is a poetic account of creation. Proverbs has a more scientific account.

“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was even an earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth; while as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, or the primal dust of the world.

When He prepared the heavens, I was there, when He drew a circle on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above, when He strengthened the fountains of the deep, when he assigned the sea its limit, so that the waters would not transgress His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him as a Master Craftsman.” -- Proverbs 8:22-30

How long did it take the mountains to settle? How did anyone back then even know they had?

What is the primordial dust? Atoms?

How about the exact physical properties that were needed for the universe to work? Sounds like trial and error and deep science.

Who was the Master Craftsman who engineered the universe and life? It certainly took one!

If you read your bible and have studied the world history, then you will notice that History is parallel to the bible... There is great timeline that goes through your bible on biblestudy.org, to help you understand this, perhaps I should give a few examples:
1> Dissapearance of the neanderthals: Noah's time- 40 days and 40 nights of Rain... Ever wondered how the next group, resembled them only with bigger brains and more intellect?

2> Dinosaurs: The Behemoth and Serpent in the bible are dinosaurs.

3> Pauls Crusade: The Crusades!!!!!

God Bless and God luck!

Dawn,

Thanks for asking a intelligent question - Science has proven to me that Creation is Totally correct.

The big bang theory - where did the mass come from? What chemicals do we put together to create Life? How many monkeys have evolved into humans and live among us today?
Has life been created from dead material?

NONE of these questions science can answer - So Creation is the only answer.

I do not know exactly how God created it all nor do I need to. Evolution or Creation makes no difference as I believe God in His infinite wisdom created it all.
