Its a background check that is reporting the information, not your credit report. Usually when applying for a job they ask if you have been convicted of any crimes. Sometimes by explaining the circumstances it will not affect your chances of being hired. Not explaining it or not sounding remorseful will.

The only information that should appear on your credit report would be whatever ther permissible purpose of the person pulling the credit report.

In general, most public records will only stay on the credit report for a maximum of 7 years. Pull your credit report, and verify that the information appears, and if so, when it was reported.

UNLESS YOU WERE A MINOR WHEN YOU COMMITTED THE CRIME, I DON'T BELIEVE YOU HAVE A CHANCE. IF YOU WERE A MINOR, I BELIEVE YOU CAN PETITION THE COURT TO HAVE THAT PART OF YOUR RECORD "SEALED" OFF.
