Because they want to SELL crystal pendents to you.
Actually, real crystals do have scientific power. Certain crystals vibrate when connected to electricity, and generate electricity when vibrated at the correct frequency. Others create electricity in light. Crystals vibrate at very predictable rates when electrified, which is why they're used in watches and other timing devices. The device counts the number of vibrations, and computes the time from the count. Other crystals are used in motion detectors, light detectors, and radio transmitter/receivers. You can still buy "crystal" radio kits, no batteries needed because the radio waves vibrate the crystal, which can be heard through headphones. But the amount of power generally involved is infintesimally small, and isn't detectable or noticeable by humans at any level if simply worn. And the crappy plastic or glass crystal pendants aren't really crystals anyway. True crystals include diamonds, quartz, and even salt, though the ones used in industry are made of far more elaborate elements.

To Freebird's point, Pierre and Jacques Curie first discovered the piezoelectric effect in various substances including Rochelle Salt and Quartz. Piezoelectric materials can generate an electric charge with the application of pressure, so a large quartz under certain conditions could deliver a jolt. However, this is not the case for all gem material. My own belief, based on all the women I've taken shopping, is that crystals catch the light and attract the eye to the wearer. Thong bikinis have far more mystical power.

Stemming back many years, I have a lot of experience with crystal pendants. I also attended a crystal workshop during the height of New Age in the 1980s, and also purchased the book by the author and speaker of that seminar.
My many years of experience, research, and experimentation has brought me to the conclusion that crystals have no power in and of themselves. Contrary to what many believe, crystals - like quartz - do not amplify thought.
However, there are some people who have a Gift of the Spirit which works through and around a crystal.
I remember attending a metaphysical fair and having a woman slowly wave a large quartz crystal over me for chakra alignment, healing, etc. There was no denying that the energy was REAL - as I felt it.
Do crystal pendants have some kind of power?
Only if Spirit is channeling energy through and/or around them.
All Gifts of the Spirit come from people on the Other Side. They are just manifested differently, depending on the culture and beliefs of the particular group of people.

Its all bunk for the gullible. Remember it used to be electric shock, copper bracelets, pyramids, drinking cola and a host of other things that had magical powers to cure you. Its the way that you can sell cheap trinkets to stupid people and make a big profit.
Yes there are websites that will tell you the powers of crystals and then they will sell you the crystals too.
In Tucson AZ every year in Feb. we have the Gem and Mineral show, the largest in the world. With all the hundreds and hundreds of tons of crystals all located in the same place at the same time the only thing that happens here is that wholesale buyers and retail sellers make a lot of money.
The tens of thousands of business people that come here to buy the Gems, minerals, and crystals don`t believe in any powers except when they sell them to you.

People have been using crystals as magickal foci for centuries, in my experience it is not so much the crystal as the person using it since, though I have personally felt energy flows directed with them, I've also felt it through Wiccan wands, Nordic Runes, even a Feather that had been consecrated by a Native American Shaman. The energy is all around us, but it takes training and practice to tap into it, foci can make that easier, but it's the Adept, not his tool that matters.

The ancient druids believed in the powers of certain crystals. As far as I know there is nothing specifically mentioned in the Bible, but it come under a heading such as false prophets.

Crystals are imbued with occult power. I won't even have a crystal chandelier in my house.
Ok, I'm kidding but isn't the 'power' about like that of those wacky copper or brass bracelets that are making someone a jillionaire?

Crystals have no power, that is of the Occult !
The Bible said that men left the Worship of God, and began Worshiping the creature rather than the Creator, we see it in this.

Crystals "ground" us, attach us to the earth and its beauties. This is an emotional connection, probably seldom or never a scientific one. There are conventions about what different crystals mean- clear means insight, pink means friendship, violet means healing, for example.

Although I'm not 'into' Crystals, I have had a lot of friends who are/were and I wouldn't discount their having some kind of mystic powers because I have seen some strange things happen because of them.
