You can use wind energy to turn the shaft of an alternator which can be used to charge a battery. This is the same principle that charges a car battery only you're turning the alternator with wind energy.

We have installed this identical system in a couple of remote properties and use it as an alternative to generators.

it sounds like u r making a generator by means of a motor so in this case u need to have an external magnetic field supply in which your shafts' movement will produce an emf , but care should be taken for the proper arrangement

A motor is designed to turn when power is applied. It would not be very efficient as a source of current. An alternator is designed to generate current from motion.

It will not work with an ordinary motor: you need an alternator or generator (as for a car), along with appropriate control equipment (voltage regulator). If your windmill can spin your alternator fast enough, it will work fine.
