I would say "lying like a dog". Of course I have never heard of "lying like a mug". Is that something only said in certain parts of the USA?

I can truly say I've never hear of anyone "lying like a mug." Now I have heard "lying like a RUG," but it's usually "lying like a dog."

Now, "lying like a rug" I know, but I've never heard, "lying like a mug."

I think "lying like a dog" is more common.

I think the saying is "lying like a RUG." As in a rug just lies there. I've never heard anyone in my life say lying like a mug.
