i asked this because i am from ontario (so i dont know other stats) but the report said that this is happening at an alarming rate in ottawa alone there is 86 a week!! and the gas stations dont want to report it because the backlash would be them lowering their prices- so they can still afford these hits-and its actually a difficult thing to prove criminally in courts- so police dont bother charging people

No! The gas station owners are trying to make a living too. Most of the time, with gas prices so high, they are barely scraping by. They actually make very little profit off of gas. It comes mostly from sales inside the store or car washes. When you do that everyone looses. They have to raise their prices to make up for it and averyone has to pay more. I hope they had a camera or someone saw you and you get caught.

No - and I hate it when people do. I used to work at a gas station in college. I had 911 on the phone while a gas and dash was happening. The police couldn't help because the $$ of the theft does not warrent emergency action even though I was on the phone with the police while the perp was robbing me. AARRRGGG
It makes it rough for the rest of us when people steal. It's just like people sending viruses - why why why...

I would never do it, but I am surprised that more people aren't trying it, with gas more than three dollars a gallon. Actually, I think our gas stations have cameras so they can catch the drive offs. Drive offs will ultimately drive the gas prices higher and you know who they will pass the cost on to, don't you? Happy driving.

Most of the pumps where I live are pre-pay only making it impossible to "Gas and dash" You either have to pay with a card at the pump or go in and pre-pay before a drop of gas comes out.

No way. My father owned and operated a gas station when I was growing up. This really hurts the "little guys" not the big corporations.

no i don't think i would! the more people that steal gas the higher the price of gas is for the rest of us! the gas stations will get there money, they will just over charge everyone else!

The cameras will tag your liscence plate and report it to the police. Especially with the oil shortage.

I would never do that - it's stealing. Even with the gas prices being so high, it would still be stealing.

Naw, hun i cant its wrong, you have the risk of getting caught, and most pumps nowadays are prepaid thanks to thiefs just like i dnt wanna call any names........
