The right thing. Give it back. The universe keeps track of stuff like that and Karma always comes back around to bite you when you least expect it. But everyone has choices, so weigh your options!

As a cashier for sevral different stores I would say "give it back!" Most cashiers arent making much more than minimum wage, and even though the mony is insured through the company, they have a chance of loosing there job or loosing trust of the manager. Alot of places will only give the employee so many chances if there till is off at the end of the day, and then they lose there job. If it is over a certain amount then it can be immediate termination or taken out of the employees pay. Next time you get more money back than you know you should, think about what it would be like to lose your job in such a competative society. What if they have kids at home? You never know.

If I noticed the mistake, I would give it back, but these days cashiers don't know how to count back change, they just say," and your change is so and so," and plunk it in your hand. I believe retailers would save a lot of money by teaching their help how to give change because most people don't want to be dishonest.

I always return it.
I used to be a manager of cashiers, and I hoped that customers would do the same thing for some of my less-experienced people.

If you don't return it, the cashier's money drawer will be off, or it will take them longer to balance. If they are too much off, they could be fired. Some would argue that being such a bad cashier justifies being fired, but I wouldn't want to be the one that got them fired! :o)

The right thing to do if you realize you have been over-changed is to return the extra change to the cashier.

I keep the extra change one time before, and went outside and busted my cup with the straw and waste drink on my clothes and inside of my car.

THE FOOD IS SUPPOSE TO BE ON SALE I GET CHARGE TWICE ETC ETC...THE AMOUNT OF GAS TO RETURN WOULD COST ME MORE!!
