British Columbia, home of 2010 winter games has both beautiful mountains and lovely beaches and great scenery in between.

Hawaii is the obvious choice. Saba or any of the mountainous Caribbean Islands.

How far are you willing to travel between the beach and the Mountains? All of the western states have both beaches and mountains -- but you might have to travel a couple hundred miles to get from one to the other in California -- while parts of Washington have both.

Same thing on the East Coast. North Carolina has beautiful beaches and mountains -- but they are a few hours apart -- while in New Hampshire they are closer.

If you travel the 101 highway from California to Washington State you will see the ocean and the mountains. It is one of the best scenic views that there is.

Washington State. It is very green and lush, has beautiful mountains (Mt. Raineer) and beaches such as Long Beach, Westport, and Ocean Shores.

I would recommend Bend Oregon. snow capped mount hood all year long, ocean maybe 45 minutes to an hour away, and high desert area all within reasonable distance.
