By logic we know that if we a major storm or a major war was about to occur we as humans would be smart to prepare for it. If they said an astroid was about to hit the earth, you know that many would do all they could to prepare for this major event in order to survive. Now the end of the world is made up of all these natural and spiritual disasters in a much biblical scale. Yes there are some people who are using their knowledge about the end of the world for their own purpose therefore exploit this. But I guarantee you that God's children are only trying to warn others about it like the days of Noah before the major flood. If you knew something bad was going to happen you would warn others if you could. So that is what many are doing, although others may have their own motives which is not of God. Now, I personally try to focus more on living a life that honors Jesus Christ rather than constantly focusing on the end times, but it is not wrong to warn others about it because it cannot be ignored. If God didn't feel it was important for us to know about the end times, he wouldn't have dedicated prophecies and gosples on it. God gave us the book of Revelations which is on the end times and not for no reason.

Well, Christians will tell you they just want to be with God, is all. But jeez... they're going to get the same results if they die of old age (go to heaven). They'll just have to wait a bit longer than if the "rapture" came now.
So that makes me wonder.. ok, if they're going to "go to heaven" either way, why are they so anxious? Truth be told, I think they want the "wicked" punished. It sounds bad but they want the rapture to come and be able to point their fingers at people who wouldn't listen to them and say, "See, I told you so!! I'm going to heaven and you're not.. nyah nyah!! You should have listened to me when I said 'Accept Jesus or else!'"
And no, I'm not being harsh, that's the kind of words I've seen from Christians on this site before.
The rapture is religious propaganda. I'm not saying the world won't end someday. It's possible but there won't be any white horses or Anti-christs or crap like that. (Bush is doing a good enough job at that). We may very well blow ourselves up. We may very well destroy ourselves through global warming. It will be OUR fault and not by the hand of god.

I am a Christian and I love my life. There are many reason people are hung up on the end of the world. Myself is a chance to get things right with God..also with my, family and friends. When I leave this earth I want to make sure that I took care of things in a loving way. Did I do all I can to change someone over to Christ.

Are lives are not miserable or pathetic. Our lives are just temporary and only lent to us a short time. We are not suicidal we are just looking forward to eternity and meeting the Father. And, no we are not suppose to love the world.
1 John 2:15-17
15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

The most basic tenet of Christianity is the Rapture, the return of Christ. Christianity was first started as a doomsday cult. The first Christians thought that Christ would return within their lifetimes. For 2000 years they've been waiting for Christ to return, seeing portents of doom everywhere. More that likely they will be doing it for another 2000 years unless we're all destroyed by some disaster.

I think most people would appreciate a heads up, for looting and what not. Other than that, rapture serves as a validation. Your average Evangelical Christan thinks everybody else is stupid, just like everybody does. The rapture makes them all to go away.
For the record, we are always closer to the end of the world than we were before.

Most of us love being alive, but we also look forward to a more perfect life. We also want to see the outrages and blasphemies committed against our God to stop, because it is difficult to watch someone who loves us being beaten and insulted as much as God is. We want Him to reclaim what is His. Admittedly, some people take this to an extreme.

Why, precisely, ought to faith be the main attractive factor interior the international? each time you have super numbers of folk with opposing dogmas, there is going to be hardship between the communities. it rather is not appropriate if it rather is faith or politics, those in ability desire to stay in ability, and that they are going to slice as many throats because it takes--actually and figuratively--to stay so.

We're not obsessed with it, we actually were born afterward. As I told you before, the end of the world is around 1757. Sorry you were not informed.

It makes them feel special and they are trying to scare people into their religion.
Every generation since 40AD has believed that their generation was going to be the last. These Christians are no more special than those.
