Behind the scenes, the meno was never disclosed to the jury. The Ramores also contend Aldrete-Davila's story changed several times, I will believe the Border P over a dam drug dealer any day. Now the asshole will probably get his money.

Even the Naval Reserves are looking into this--I think it will be overturned in time. When you start fighting with them-you are fighting with more Americans--that is not going to go well with many.
People should sign it--it will count rather some believe it or not, and email the Reserves tell them how outraged you are. One of the Border Patrol was in the Reserves for a good long time. He is a good guy caught up in a bad situation.

Why Mendi8a supports these people and their cause is beyond me and she supports the family and their actions. The El Paso Sheriff's Department has met with the Ramos family to discuss continued threats against them from people they believe to be associated with Aldrete-Davila. The sheriff's department also has increased patrols around the family's home.Guess the family will now get a house on the hill money for all the trauma and distressed over not being able to get the pot to it's users. Sure 9-11 people will note this and carry whatever they carry and simply all they need to do is flee and the USA is helpless to stop them. This country is selling out.

Rules are rules. Did you not read the report. The agent claimed the man was coming towards him with a gun then how was the suspect shot in the back and then the suspect did not even have a gun. If this had been an American on American situation you would be all for the agent going to jail and the government being sued.

Arrested and convicted for shooting a fleeing unarmed person in the BACK, which is illegal, and criminal!!

"According to the U.S. attorney who successfully prosecuted the agents, the man they were chasing didn't actually have a gun, shooting him in the back violated his civil rights, the agents didn't know for a fact that he was a drug smuggler, and they broke Border Patrol rules about discharging their weapons and preserving a crime scene.

Even more broadly, Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Kanof said, Ramos and Compean had no business chasing someone in the first place.

"It is a violation of Border Patrol regulations to go after someone who is fleeing," she said. "The Border Patrol pursuit policy prohibits the pursuit of someone."

Her arguments, along with testimony from other agents on the scene and that of the smuggler himself, swayed a jury. It was a crushing blow to Compean and Ramos, both of whom had pursued suspects along the border as a regular part of their job."

What an outrage. I signed the petition. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. How can this happen in America? It's hard to believe that you can actually get arrested in America for doing your job and stopping drug smuggling. Oh and good thing *sarcasm* the guy who actually BROKE the law is suing the U.S. for 5 mil and is getting off with no punishment. What is this, the new fascist movement? I'm disgusted.

If you read the story closer, you find the border patrol agents discharged their weapons, firing at an unarmed alien.

"A Texas jury convicted the pair of assault with serious bodily injury; assault with a deadly weapon; discharge of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence; and a civil rights violation. Compean and Ramos also were convicted of four counts and two counts, respectively, of obstruction of justice for not reporting that their weapons had been fired."

Please have all your facts straight before posting a ridiculous statement.

I read about that. At first read it sounds really bad. Knowing the system, there has to be more to this story.

Anyone can write anything on the web! Be a bit leery! See, I wrote this, and what do I know?

Seems to be all the rage these days. Punish the legal citizens and ignore illegals crossing into the country. How sad.

That is a clear travesty of justice ... not to mention giving the drug smuggler immunity ... which they did ... whereupon he promptly got caught trying to smuggle more drugs into the country again ... yet another illegal who only wants to come to the US for a better life ... I daresay ....

Yeah, I signed that petition. It is only one of the many ways the border patrol has been discouraged from doing their job. What sort of policy is it that says our border patrol can't pursue drug runners anyhow?

If our domestic police had those sorts of rules, we'd never catch anyone.
