The first time you go, they will run the standard physical test on you. They will ask you to put your hands out and touch your finger to your nose, alternating one hand then the other, just like you see on the sobriety tests. You will be asked to walk a straight line slowly, one foot in front of the other. The neurologist will ask you to push his hands away as hard as you can, and close your eyes as tight as you can, so that he cannot open them.

Depending on the neurologist, he may have an EEG machine there in the office. When you're given that, it's messy. They stick wires onto your head, using a COLD cream (they'll mark your head up to figure out where the wires should go), then those will measure your brain activity. They usually try different stimuli, like flashing bright lights at you, to see how you react. It takes a while, and it gets really boring, laying on that table, but it doesn't hurt.

Hope this helps.

Nothing too out of the ordinary, first visit they will ask about symptoms and any possible triggers you've noted, they will then do very basic tests – testing your reflexes, looking at your eyes, a wonderful thing where they push on your eyeballs – they will work from there to identify cause.

I'd also say you may find you get a migraine after they are done, all that poking and prodding triggers mine off every time. So take some painkillers will you and drink a lot of water, it's good to have a migraine when you go so they can see what it is like for you, but after you want to do all you can to avoid a nasty feeling head.

He will do a basic examination of nerves in the body.Such as;
grips of hands to make sure they are equal,reflexes of your legs, make you walk acrss the floor to see how your gait is,do an eye examine by following a pen with your eyes,mand he may feel the muscles of your neck to see if they are tight. alot of questions.Most of them will be about when the onset was,how often do you get them,when do you get them,do you have auras just before you get them,have you ever been to a doctor for them,has any pain medications helped,if so which ones.He may put you on medication until he can get an MRI done.The MRI will show if you have any blocked vessels in the brain,or any injury that may have occurred.He may suggest Inderal to help make the episodes further apart.I took the Inderal for a while but it didn't do anything to prevent or lessen the amount of headaches I had.I take Imitrex when i get a migraine.It is expensive ,about 375.00 for 10 tablets,but it is worth it.Imitrex does not prevent a migraine,for simple headaches,I take Excedrin Headache.

More than likely a brain scan after the interview, BP taken and weight taken. The question of diet could come up, some blood will be taken and they may well want a sample of urine.

Don't need to worry, neurologist are not heartless people, iam sure they will treat you kindly. He might check your balance, muscle movements, ask you questions. take full neuro examination which does not involve any kind of pain or injection. I have seen neurologist doing patient assessment several time.
