We see so many conservatives wanting to keep America safe and touting the death of civilians in far away lands to ensure our safety over here. Why would someone who claims so ferverently to be Christian be so afraid of death? They'll just go to heaven, won't they? Or does this fear mean they're not 100% sure in their beliefs, which would also automatically mean they are not truly Christians and would be cast into hell.

I have to call BS on some of these answers.
"I'm not afraid of death!"
"We're just afraid for the unsaved!"
"Only false Christians are afraid. But not me! I'm a TRUE Christian!"
Hogwash.
If some strange man were to break into your houses right now, tied you to a chair, and was about to kill you, you would WITHOUT QUESTION be begging for your lives.
While it is true, the human body would prefer to remain alive, your fear of death is antithetical to your beliefs.
Unfinished business in life? Christianity teaches this world is irrelevant and one should only concern themselves with the kingdom of God.

Hi Michael, I'm not sure what your are asking because you ask your question about "..being afraid of death" and linking it to the wars in the middle east that "conservatives" support.
One can make the argument that supporting such wars would actually show that one as not fearing death. It is said that going to war in such a manner can result in terrorist strikes in retaliation, even putting those "arm chair warriors" at risk (which most of them should understand that risk)...
Your apparent concern about Christians fearing death and condemning them to hell shows more confusion. Your question shows you don't understand yet what Christianity is, or what a Christian is.
However you do have the command correctly stated in that a Christian shouldn't fear death. But, your comment about sending people to hell for fearing death is not Christian. First because you lay down a law one must follow to get to heaven (by not fearing death). This subordinates how God now justifies the un-godly by faith in Jesus the Christ (the ungodly taking Christ's perfect righteousness and Christ taking the ungodlys un-righteousness).

A real Christian isn't afraid of death. They will try to prolong their life but they aren't afraid of dying. I know when I was in a car accident, I did all I could to keep from crashing, and I had a moment of panic, because we are human, and we want to preserve our lives. Because it was an instant thing I didn't have time to think. Had I really thought about it, dying wouldn't have been a big deal.

I'm not afraid to die my only fear of death is the method. I mean, will I have an easy painless death or will I be tortured to death like Jesus was. Don't know. I'm ready to go home to my father that's the whole point of living and serving God, to get to eternity. If they are scared it might mean they have a hidden sin they won't confess or quit.

They might be afraid or doubt their beliefs a little, subconsciously, but I think they are trying to keep people safe and alive just because they want innocent people to survive and live to their fullest potential and day! Who'd want to die young? They want to see the world as much as possible, and if they're fighting to stay alive or keep others alive, it's probably because they know themselves and the people they're trying to help haven't seen enough of the world. They're too young to die. They're too innocent and unexperienced. I think once they're old enough, a lot of Christians will have no problem accepting the fact that it's their time to go. I think they just want it to be peaceful, calm, the correct time; they don't want to die at the hands of anyone else other than their god...that would mean they weren't ready to die yet, I think! If they die in battle, I think they would have wanted to be taken when God wanted them. not when some soldier wanted them! Like I said: who wants to die young? Most likely, not too many. And who'd want to die a painful and agony/hate-filled war sort of death? I doubt anyone wants that.

I don't have a fear of death! I am a Christian who wants to be around as long as it is God's will, to help share His love and mercy and to enjoy my family and the wonderful gifts He has given me since I've been placed on this Earth! Most Christians I know have no fear of dying! In my opinion, going to other countries to kill is wrong. So I'm not one of those you refer to. You tend to be putting all Christians into one pot...doesn't work that way!

yeah I would say they are either afraid of the physical pain of death or that they believe they are going to hell because they realize they really no nothing about Christianity and a just a fraud in this life. If they actually understood anything about the God of the bible they would understand that there is no hell.

True Christians, do not have any doubts about where they will go after death, therefore;they are not afraid of death. As it says in Ephesians 2.8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" It's by faith, we don't have to see in order to believe. I am not afraid of death, in fact, I wish it would come soon for me. Either that or the Lord's return. But until then, I will live for God alone

Fear of such things is natural. It's very difficult to overcome, but I comfort myself with the verse of Scripture that says, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" This reminds me that death has no power over me unless I give it my power and authority to overcome me through sin or a disquieting lack of assurance that I'm as close as I need to be with God. I'm not perfect, but I try to get better, so armed with that and the knowledge that the grave can't hold me down, I'm no longer afraid of death itself, just the method in which it may come to me. I guess I'm only worried about my demise coming slowly and painfully.
