Agnostic here, not trying to disconvert anyone, just asking,

There was a Viking King Canute who had many followers who thought he was God. One servant said but great king you command even the tides. He ordered them to the shore where he commanded the tide not to come in. They waited.
That was the Greatest Day in all their lives, their "God" did not control nature. I wonder what did their faces look like, did their eyes light up?

Could today be the greatest day of your life?

www.talkorigins.org perhaps?

I wish you could have seen the look on my face when I was told Jesus or Evolution and I stormed out of there no longer plugged into that cult of a religion.
That was the Greatest Day of my entire Life, the day I stopped believing in Jesus.

Can one live authentic life and believe in God, I suppose one can. But to those who say I lead an inathentic life for believing in Evolution and no God, I love you, my life is a happy one filled with purpose and joy. Blessed be.

Of course christians will always respond to this kind of thing with the answers programmed into their heads. I'll go ahead and say them for you.

I hope that when you get to heaven and ask god why you can't come in you think about this kind of thing.

It's not too late god still luvs you. Aceept jesus into your heart and you will be saved.

The greatest day of my life was the day I started in the path to self actualization - the day I decided that I was going to set up a process by which I would never stop progressing.

Anyway, you'll probably get flamed from others - you are hitting the coals with a stick - but you are right. Happiness is !not! related to any one thing, while we can add stock in either one (christians into Jesus and atheists into fighting Jesus, agnostics into appreciating life and nature, etc) - people add stock into happiness into whatever they want, money, sex, drugs, fame, etc: everyone has a bit of stock.

Happiness, however, is not related to a tangible.

If I go any further, people stop listening, so I'll stop there. =)

If today was the greatest day of my life......I'd want a refund.

I'd have to say the day I thought was the greatest day so far in my life was about the same as the one you described. That I wasn't going to be struck down by lightning for not believing in something that didn't feel right to me. It was a great weight to get off of my shoulders and i feel like I have been able to see the world with better clarity.

I am glad you are happy and content. Who told you a crazy thing like that? I believe in God as you know and I hope my life is considered authentic. I sure enjoy it. If this is the best day left of my life then I will make it even better. It has been a great one.

This is a very, very GOOD day indeed because I found your "question" and therefore, some freedom. I began exploring "religion" early in life, as a child in fact. I, of course, pursued Christianity because it was "in my face." I found no peace, no love, no companionship and no forgiveness. In fact, when it came to forgiveness, I was constantly taught that I was nothing but a sinner and always would be. When I finally abandoned all (at the risk of Hell) I finally found some freedom. I relaxed and finally found love in the eyes of the people around me. I explore all "religion" now with an open mind and am happy with the spirits who live in the wind, in the trees, in the air and in the earth. I love you, too. Blessed be.

I have to agree. One of the happiest days of my life is when I finally pulled my head out of my rectal cavity and understood that there is no god. None.
That understanding, and the fact that I came to the understanding on my own, was the start of a new life. One without a childish crutch called "god".
And anyone that says that 'god' is necessary to have a purpose in life is fooling themselves.

This will sound like a Hallmark card, but I am happy everyday. I surround myself with people and things that make me happy.
I still get butterflies in my stomach.
I try to make the most of everday, because this is it.
I am happy and in love with every moment.

I knew a young lady, who wanted her wedding day (and night) to be the best day of her life. Her planning and hard work payed off. She got her wish. It was down hill after that.

Some people fulfill their own prophecies.

I hope the greatest is closer to the end. 'Don't know why, but sequence of events is really important to humans. Say you are rich when you're born, then slowly spend, or lose it all until you are broke when you die...that's a sad story. But if you are born poor and make money your whole life until you die rich, that's success! WTF?
