I went on a tour of many of the American food production facilities in Guangzhou, China, my home for five years. I was told the product freshness will be 33% longer than the national requirement, which includes all like companies. The inscription on my bag of instant Quaker oats says this product is guaranteed to retain freshness eighteen months past the product date code. It is written in English, Korean, and English.

they will keep for a good ling time, sometimes years. though after that amount of time it's likely that the flavor may have become corrupted by other surrounding foods ...
also the biggest issue with storing grains for long periods of time is bugs, specifically weavels. (sp) .... just be sure it's SUPER air tight.
