Because they believe in the Bible, but the Bible is just a man-made play script, with several actors God, Devil, Jesus, Satan, Adam, Eve etc, and of course some intriguing imaginary places like Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and Limbo.

I certainly don’t believe in the Bible and I doubt any reasonably intelligent person would either. However, if you view the Bible as a man-made play script, with several actors God, Devil, Jesus, Satan, Adam, Eve, Noah, and so on, then you can certainly start to see a clever interwoven plot, that the audience is unaware of. It’s really just a drama thriller with clever twists.

You see, if you seriously think about it in an unbiased manner, then clearly the actor God in the Bible could really be the Devil, and the audience (religious believers) are being sucked into being the bad guys, who then use religion to get everyone fighting each other.

On the other hand, the more intelligent audience (Atheists) spot the plot and try their best to teach believers that this is just nonsense, stop getting sucked in. Some people have over time decided that the play is real. That's very sad.

without it, God would not be the Just and Wise and merciful God He is. God created men and made them responsible for their actions; some behaved well but others did not. If there is no future life in which the virtuous are rewarded and the vicious are punished, there would be no justice and the creation of men in that way and the sending of Prophets to them would be to no purpose at all. But this kind of behaviour is not expected of a man known to be rational and just, let alone the Perfect Creator.

Without belief in this Day on which everyone will receive his just deserts (when the wrongdoers are justly punished and the righteous are rewarded bountifully), man would lose the impetus to behave fairly towards others and the oppressed would grow hopeless and miserable.

Belief in the Hereafter is an essential element that helps to control human delinquency and establish collective happiness and virtues in society

The heavens are right above your head so it doesn't take any special faith to believe in in them, just look up. As for Hell that is a different story. Hell is simply a mistranslation of 2 Hebrew words, Sheol and Gehenna and two Greek words Hades and Tartarus. There is not an actual hell in bible. The word hell not unlike Sheol means to cover, like in helmet, to cover the head or hell to cover the body.

Because God said it in the Bible then it was reconfirmed by Jesus in the flesh when he came to rescue mankind from eternal damnation! Where will you stand when the end is at hand? There are only two sides that you can be on, those who believe in him and those who don't. If you believe in Jesus Christ our lord and saviour you shall be saved and inherit all the riches of heaven and paradise earth. If you dont you will be cast out and seperated from God for ETERNITY which is HELL! It doesn't get any simpiler than that. Accept his salvation today for tommorrow is not promised!

that goes back thousands of years- its the same thing as the afterlife in Roman times, ancient Greek beliefs, ancient Egypt.
Its a basis for judgement although I don't neccesarily believe from a higher power but society at large. Humans love to judge

because they`re just lying to themselves. everyone wants that certain fact, and doesn`t want to go into the unknown, so they make up places for their bodies to go to after life.
but of course, it is not physically possible, because after you die, so does your consciousness, so there is no possible way to go to a heaven, hell, or any other place after death. all the body does is rot away into decaying matter and then back into the earth.

I don't, but it's kind of a nice thought, don't you think? Eternal happiness. I guess people are just scared about hell and things.

Because I would like to believe that there is a place where good people go when they die and there is a bad place bad people go when they die.
